John S,linkerd SERVICES HELD TUESDAY FOR JOHN SLINKERD Funeral services for John Earl Slinkerd were " conducted Tuesday in the Community Methodist Church, , .'under direction di-rection of Rev. James Sloan. f Mr. Slinkerd died Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Beaver County Hospital, 'after a long illness. The program was as follows: Prayer at the mortuary, preceding pre-ceding the services, was offered by Bishop Richard Leon Jones. Prelude and posllude music, Mrs. Myrtle Tribole. Ladies' trio, "You'll Never Walk Alone," Mrs. Josephine Killam, Mrs. Jerrie Kirk and Mrs. Bonnie Easton, accompanied accompa-nied by Mrs. Beth Edwards. Reading from the New and Old Testaments, Rev. Sloan. Obituary and prayer, Rev. Bob Mustian. Vocal solo, "Face to Face,' Victor Kauffman, accompanied by Mrs. Tribole, Meditation and prayer, Rev. Sloan. The grave was dedicated by Rev. Sloan. Pallbearers were Doug Turner, Tur-ner, Dennis Slinkerd, Boyd Horton, Rick Berger, Jimmie Williams and Mitch White. He was born June 8, 1897 in Pittsurbg, Kansas to William and Cora Woods Slinkerd. He married Gertrude A. Mc-Cluskey, Mc-Cluskey, April 23, 1921, in Needles, Calif. He was employed by Union Oil Co., and came to Milford in 194G and with his family operated a restaurant on Main Street, on the site presently ocupied by John's Sinclair Service. In 1952 they sold the restaurant, to Richard Jung and Frank Yee. Mr. Slinkerd was at one time city marshal for the city of Milford, and operated a small ranch east of town. Surviving are his widow; . a .von and daughter, Robert Slinkerd, Raytown, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Turner, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Little, Sherman Oaks, Calif. Burial was in the Milford City Cemetery. Relatives and friends attending attend-ing the services from out of town included Mrs. Nellie Er-canbrack Er-canbrack and John and Shirley Stoker of Los Angeles, Calif.; Robert and Gloria Slinkerd and family of Raytown, Mo.; Mitchell White, Mrs. Margaret Turner and Dick DeRose, of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Etteisperger of Monrovia, Mon-rovia, Calif.; Rick and Diane Berger and Darwin Gilger and family, Cedar City. |
