Show HARD ON THE HIDE Sun-worshippers may well take notice of a warning issued by the Milford unit of the American Cancer Society, So-ciety, that over-exposure to sunshine may lead to skin cancer. Although most forms of skin cancer are highly curable cur-able in their early stages by minor surgery or radiation therapy, the record shows that 5 of such cases are fatal. Too much sun has been found to be the principal cause of skin cancer. "Sense in the Sun," the title of a new film produced by the American Cancer Society, suggests sug-gests in just three words the best protection we can take against skin cancer. We congratulate the local volunteers of the American Amer-ican Cancer Society for bringing this timely warning to the people of this community both young and old to exercise common sense out of doors. It need not detract from the healthful enjoyment of sun-bathing, swimming, skiing, gardening and all the other popular sports and recreational activities. Simply guard against sustained over-exposure to Old Sol and you can help eradicate skin cancer. It's that easy. |
