Show We congratulate the School Beard on their decision to send the minutes of their meeting to the newspapers in the county. We commend the Milford mem-beis mem-beis who made the motio.n and seconded it. We believe that this is a giant step towards communication com-munication with their constituents. constitu-ents. The News has -worked diligently dili-gently to cover their proceedings proceed-ings and at best has not been able to do a good job. We will do our best to 'continue to cover this facet of public life. We will file our copy of the minutes at the News office for anyone's perusal. While we do not held back any information pertinent to the community, regardless re-gardless of the matter, we do not always publish Board action where it concerns an individual and is not a matter of great public concern. We see no reason 10 jeopardize an individual's future, fu-ture, unless ihe severity of the situation warrants public notice. Applications will still be accepted ac-cepted lor on the spot reporting of school board and other county coun-ty meetings. o It's good to htar that Hy Tol-ley, Tol-ley, one of Miltord's better boosters, boo-sters, came through open heart surgery in fine shape and is recuperating in good shape He is reported to be out of intensive care and doing fine. Every now and then we get a report that there is plenty of water good culinary water in these old mine shafts south and we-st of town, which could be pumped into a reservoir and be on a gravity flow to town.-The town.-The plans put forth always sound good to us who known very little about either the availability avail-ability of water in that particular partic-ular area, or pumping, but feel that it there if. some way of providing pro-viding the city with culinary water at a reduced cost, it should be done, now while the city is presently looking into a quite expensive modification modifi-cation of our present system. Since this basic idea has been advanced to us several times over the past three years, we have pointed it out to those in the position of checking into it hoping that it would be checked out. We ve been told that those who advanced the ideas were crackpots, that there was no water, or not enough water, or that it was no good, infeasible, and many other so called reasons. rea-sons. But as far as we know, nobody has actually undertaken a feasibility study. o The plan has again been advanced. ad-vanced. This time by someone whose credentials cannot be questioned. A man who has the education, degree, and knowledge know-ledge of the area to go with it. He has spent some 15 years studying the area, and has no personal interest or gain. We believe that our city fathers should avail themselves of this knowledge. We believe they should conduct or have their engineers, conduct a feasibility study. Certainly it is worth looking into before spending a half million dollars drilling new wells and building reservoirs. We do not have the knowledge or the money to find out for ourselves, whether the plan is feasible, but we will be glad to supply those in office with the name and credentials of our latest informant, so they can cheek it out themselves. o Mrs. Gail Gale informed us that the Centennial Chorus is practicing c.n Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. in the High School. She says that the chorus chor-us is not limited to any denomination denomin-ation or group, and anyone who wishes to sing is welcome. The chorus will perform in the Centennial Cen-tennial Pageant August 8-9-10. So if you like to sing, get on up there and get involved. Funny thing how people tend to want to get informed after it's almost too late. Had more requests to read the Master Continued on Page Two HERE'S MORE ABOUT JUST BETWEEN (.Continued from Page One) Plan since last week's editorial than in the past year, since its been printed. We do have copies available, for those who will return them when finished o We did get some criticism from one local person who is lairly well informed, who felt that the plan should be corrected cor-rected before it is adopted. We agree in theory, but feel that it won't work like that, since we think that if the ball is dropped now, no one will ever start it rolling again. By the same token, the terrible inaccuracys of the plan, much too numerous to mention, certainly cer-tainly should be corrected. And ,the County Commission should be prepared to make these corrections. cor-rections. In fact we would hope that the failings, and inaccuracys that can be found and itemized should accompany the ordinance and be included as part of the ordinance adopting the plan. The key lies in whether you beleve that a plan is needed whether you are prepared to start over and completely redo re-do what has been done or whether to affect the changes necessary to make the plan compatible com-patible to the needs of Beaver County. I do not believe for a minute min-ute that Beaver County needs 20 different building zones. Nor do I believe that all unincorporated unincorpor-ated areas should be limited to one family each ten or 20 acres. o We must recognize the Master Plan for what it is just a plan not a bible. It is mainly the product of the thinking of one man, who is not infallible. A man, who in his capacity as a planner, looks at things from the eyes of one who lives in Salt Lake, and only tries to place himself in a hypothetical rural county such as Beaver. o Certainly he cannot be an expert ex-pert at all things, he cannot be a farmer, a stockman, a businessman, busi-nessman, promoter or professional, profession-al, and cannot think as they would. Not always will his ide7 ology fit the situation and be practical or even reasonable, 'that's why members of each community were on committees commit-tees to help formulate this plan. They were the boss they had the final say as to what went into this plan. There were studies stud-ies of sewer and water, housing, population, schools and all facets of life in the county. Then a preliminary plan was written. It was at this time that the necessary ne-cessary changes should have been made it should have been insisted upon. But there was an apathy. Few protested. Those who did, did r.ot protest loudly enough. The Master plan was completed. o If adopted, the plan should be regarded as a guideline, to be modifieed as situations change and the people of the county change, to meet the changing situations. Adoption does not make it law unless those who administer it regard it as law this we must not let happen. We still support adoption, not because it is a good plan, but 'because we believe that if it's defeated, Beaver County will have no plan at all. The plan has cost 8100,000. Three fourths of this was paid by federal and state funds. Beaver County paid $25,000. Surely we should try to salvage something for this money.
