Sullivan, the Beaver County School Board voted Wednesday June 6th to send copies of the minutes of their board meetings to the Beaver County Newspapers. Newspa-pers. This will help to inform the general public of the actions of the board and help them to guide the board in its decision. The budget as prepared was examined by the board. Clark W. Smith moved that the necessary ne-cessary changes be made in the 1972-73 budget namely, the costs of Community School Program Pro-gram be added to the budget in the amount of $2,320 to be offset by the same amount that will be received from the State of Utah on the program and that the amount of the instructional costs budget be decreased by $4,500 and the amount of the Operation of Plant budget be increased in-creased by $4,500 to accommodate accommo-date the increased costs to be incurred for heat and utilities durng the school year. A letter from State Supt. Walter A. Talbot which gives in question are declared neces-sarily-existant. Such approval does not negate the necessity of a detailed and comprehensive study and the application of the guidlines respecting the classification classi-fication of small schools." The board then ratified the advertising for bids for the building of the gyms with bid openings scheduled for June 15, 1973 at 8:00 p.m. (School hoard notices are located on pages four and five of this issue). The budget hearing was set at 4:30 p.m. on June 27, 1973. Sullivan also moved that the regular meeting for the month of July be held in conjunction with the budget hearing. The beard reviewed the salary schedule and advised the Supt. to notify the Beaver Education Assn. and the teachers of its decision to settle negotiations by June 13. Authorized $270 expenses for Mrs. Pat Rimpau to attend the FHA national convention. Read letter from the administrator adminis-trator of teacher certification stating that Lynn Parsons will be certified as librarian in the BHS for 1972-73 year, but that no authorization will be given for the 1973-74 school year and it is necrssary for Mr. Parsons to complete his work and get hs certificate. Authorized Supt. to offer contracts con-tracts for an English-Math teacher at BHS and a primary teacher at Minersville. Supt. Bliss recommended that the board strengthen the speech-drama speech-drama classes at BHS in place cf a foreign language. The board tentatively approved the change. |
