Show airports. Mr. Blackum stated that a public hearing regarding regard-ing the plan would be held April 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Recital Hall, SUSC campus in Cedar City. Following the Steering Committee Com-mittee Meeting, Mr. Bill Bruhn, Director of the' State Department Depart-ment of Local Affairs, discussed with the general association members information regarding rural development legislation. A sound-o:slide presentation was also shown explaining the Integrated In-tegrated Health and Social Services Delivery System in the process of development within the district. The next Steering Committee will be held May 4, 1973 in Beaver. JIM SLOAN TO HEAD 5-COUNTY HEALTH SERVICES The Steering Committee of the Five County Association of Governments, in its April 6 meeting in Panguitch, approved the appointments of Reverend Jim Sloan of Milford as Chairman Chair-man of the district Health and Social Services Council and Edla Terry of Braver as Vice-Chairman. Both Reverend Sloan and Edla Terry are knowledgeable in health and social services and were very active in the initial development of the Council. In other health and social services ser-vices affairs, Stecrirg Committee members approved the recommendation recom-mendation that a full-time clin. ical psychologist be hired for the district. With the addition of the clinical clin-ical psychologist, the mental health staff in the five county area will include three full-time full-time mental health professionals and plans to possibly increase that staff with one other specialist. spec-ialist. In line with the districting cf public health services program pro-gram previously adopted by the Association, the Steering Committee Com-mittee recommended that the Health and Social Services Council go ahead with the process pro-cess of identifying potential candidates for the position of Public Health Officer. Plans were also approved to strengthen streng-then both the district Mental Health and Public Health Programs Pro-grams by more consolidated use of resources and staff. The Steering Committee reviewed re-viewed and gave area-wide approval ap-proval to local applications for Federal fur.ds for the proposed St. George Municipal Swimming Swim-ming Pool, a Beaver City Park, and the Continuation Grant for Kane County Family Health Center. In other action the Steering Committee passed resolutions opposing the lowering of the water level in Lake Powell and requesting that the National Park Service conform to regulations regu-lations provided for in the Act estabUshing the Glen Canyon Recreation Area. Kell Blackum of the Utah Division of Aeronautics reviewed review-ed the proposed Airport system Plan for the State of Utah. The plan considers such questions as airport eligibility for Federal Fed-eral development funds, commuter com-muter air carriers, and cost estimates es-timates for development of local |
