Show MILFORD WPA CHOOSE PROJECTS Fourteen persons turned out Monday, April 30fh for a meeting meet-ing to the Milford Wildlife Protective Pro-tective Assn. They were entertained enter-tained by an excellent wildlife film on wild turkeys which now have an open season in Utah and are being transplanted into new areas yearly. There are several batches in the eastern end of the county and turkeys have been reported in the Mineral Min-eral range in recent years. The film was presented by Officer Winn cf the Cedar City Fish and Games office and he a'so answered question on several sev-eral subjects. Othello Riley, local fish and game officer, was also in attendance. In the absence of President A. B. Merryweather, Vice-pres. Red Wilkin conducted the meeting meet-ing wh'ch set the 4th Wednesday Wednes-day at 8:00 p.m. as the regular meeting time and date. A number of projects were taken on by the organization for the ensuirg year. The Big Rock Project will consist of gaining permission from BLM to place tables (concrete) at the popular big rock picnic area. Als-o in connection with this project are fireplaces and a por able generator which will be checked out to organizations and groups who wish to have lights for their steak frys. Roy You.ng ar.d Bob Merryweather were put in charge of committees commit-tees to prcceed on this project. Other projects included: a-greeing a-greeing to place signs designating designat-ing the legal hunting areas for geese at the Minersville Reservoir, Reser-voir, doing the utmost to promote pro-mote a buck hunt only in the Mineral Range and to help law officers enforce laws against poachers during the pheasant hunt and work with farmers and Fish and Game personnel to provide a better bird habitat and build the pheasant population popula-tion including all-out-war on skunks human and otherwise. |
