Show School News LARRY REESE MAKES ALL-STATE By the Journalism Class of Milford High School Mrs. Mary McCulley, Instructor Larry Reese, Tiger left end, was named to the Deseret News All-State second team, and was also named to ' the Region Eight first team. Bruce Mayer also is a member mem-ber of the Region 8 first team, and Gary Tomsik and Blaine Roberts were named to the Region Re-gion 8 second team. SPEECH PLAY WELL RECEIVED BY VIEWERS The Speech Class play, "We Shook the Family Tree," received re-ceived the plaudits of Milford residents and students after a very successful and entertaining entertain-ing presentation Wednesday evening in the high school auditorium. All speech class students sold tickets to the play, assisted with advertising, make-up, etc. Furniture for the stage settings was loaned by Warren Johnson of Sam's Furniture. Miss Joseph was advisor, Bill Myers, student director, and Joyce Grimshaw and Linda Merryweather, prompters. The cast included Marilyn Mayer, Bruce Mayer, Sandra Wilcock, Anna Rae Cooper, Blaine Roberts, Dennis Slink-erd, Slink-erd, LaDon Grimshaw, Carol Jean Hanley, Betty Thomas, George McCulley, Stan Hol-lingshead Hol-lingshead and Elaine Schow. FHA PLANS ACTIVITIES At the FHA meeting two weeks ago the club discussed and planned many things that will take place in the near future. Highlighting the year's activities ac-tivities will be a candle-lighting initiation ceremony at 6:30 tonight (Thursday), for new members of the club. Each girl will receive a Future Homemakers of America membership mem-bership pin. On Dec. 17 the members will distribute baskets of candy, cookies, etc., to the elderly people of Milford. TIGERS' HOPES ARE HIGH The Tigers will meet the Virgin Valley Bulldogs in the first practice game of the basketball bas-ketball season on Friday, and on Saturday will travel north to tangle with North Sanpete High at Mount Pleasant. The team, under direction of Coach Rowley, has been practicing prac-ticing earnestly for the past three weeks, and hope to defeat de-feat Mesquite for a good start on a victorious season. PSYCHOLOGY CLASS Trying to balance a plank on a fulcrum for a certain amount of time was one of the problems faced last week by the psychology class. They have been studying methods of solving creative problems, and have conducted interesting experiments. ex-periments. Mr. Cropper was explaining to the students hoV to solve their own problems by the use of certain basic principles. To supplement a class in mental illness, a psychiatrist from Salt Lake will be guest speaker. TROPHY CASE The trophy case has been displaying a number of very different articles. They are regular household appliances used before the days of general gener-al electricity, including a coffee cof-fee grinder, "mustache" cup, hair curler, lace iron, and other interesting "antiques." Persons wishing to see these items are invited to visit the school. GOAL IN SIGHT The Lettermen' of Milford are nearing their goal of $1,000 with each and every new project they undertake. They have completed selling Christmas Cards and are finishing fin-ishing up a few. "odds and ends." Mr. Rowley said the club should be over their goal by February, and still have a large capital left. They are now soliciting advertising for the basketball programs, and will sponsor the Gold Medal Tournament Tour-nament this month. |
