Show Dec. 19 Is Milford 'Turkey Scramble Day' Live Turkeys, Major and Lesser Prizes Offered Shoppers by Local Merchants SANTA COMING SAME DAY Sugarhouse gives away sugar with Christmas Shop, per purchases, Cedar City and Richfield give turkeys and hams, but in Milford the gift shoppers will have to scramble for their turkeys. Eight (or more) 20-lb gobblers alive will be tossed from the marquee at the Jeff Merc corner on Main Street at 4 p. m. Saturday, Dec. 19, and the nimble scramblers who come up with the birds will get them cleaned and clucked free courtesy the Milford High School Letter. mens Club. But the Milford merchants are giving away more than live turkeys. Starting Friday, Dec. 4, every Christmas shopper in Milford will receive a ticket with each $1 spent with participating merchants, and immediately after the turkey scramble a drawing wiU be held and the holder of the Big Lucky Ticket will receive a valuable prize. Then additional drawings for other prizes, ranging from transistor radios down to toys, games and dolls. The Big Prize will be left up to the ticket holder. He may take his (or her) choice of a modern bedroom suite consisting of bed and "his and her" dresser from Sam's Furniture & Appliance, valued val-ued at $259.95; a $250 merchandise mer-chandise certificate at Culver's Cul-ver's Family Store (the ticket tick-et holder may just browse around and buy anything and everything until he has spent $250); a complete bathroom fixture set from Valle)' Builders including bathtub, commode and wash basin, with all necessary fixtures and fittings (or if he doesn't need a bathroom he can select se-lect $200 worth of buildinR materials); a Whirlpool Washer with Magic Lint Remover Re-mover from Jefferson Mercantile Mer-cantile Co., retail value $259. And other Big Prizes may be added. Just before the turkey scramble scram-ble and ticket drawings, Mil-ford's Mil-ford's Lady Lions have arranged ar-ranged for Santa Claus to visit the community, flying to town in Ben Briscoe's airplane and brought from the airport to town in the new Milford fire truck. The Volunteer Firemen will escort the jolly old gent to the park north of the Park Motel, where the Lady Lions will help him pass out sacks of nuts and candies to all the children of the community. |
