Show By the Journalism Class of Milford High School Mrs. Mary McCulley, Instructor Bruce Mayer was elected student body president at the school election held Tuesday. Mike Walker will be vice president pres-ident for the 1964-65 school year and Ilene Crane, secretary and treasurer. Next year's cheerleaders will be Cheryl Wunderlich, main cheerleader for the A team, Marcha Culver, Reta Hatch and Connie Burke. Results of the election for B team were Gerry Price, main cheerleader, Vicki Lamb, Connie Jones and Lyle Hatch. All candidates made ringing campaign speeches at a special assembly Monday, and the 1 candidates for cheerleader displayed dis-played their abilities. MUSIC IN THE AIR The annual Region Ten Music Mu-sic Festival will be held Saturday, Sat-urday, May 9, in Cedar City. Bands and choruses from all of Region 10, which extends from Fillmore on the north to St. George on the south, will participate. The MHS Band and Chorus have been very busy the past few weeks preparing for this event. The mixed chorus will sing "Father in Heaven" and "Let There Be Music," and the girls will sing "I Hear a Song." The band will play "Bandol-ogy," "Bandol-ogy," "The Great Gate of Kieve," and "Three Sketcehs of Band." ELECTION FEVER It seems that the students of Milford High have election fever, fe-ver, as student body, class, and other organizations are choosing choos-ing their officers for 1964-65. At FHA elections held last Melvin Stewart, Gary Tomsik, Doug Turner, and Robert Will-ingham. Will-ingham. The tennis team, something new at MHS, is made up of Vernon Erickson, Jerry Jensen, Bill Myers, Hepia Nerla and Larry Reese. JUNIOR BAND TRAVELS Milford's Junior Band really excelled last Friday when they traveled to Delta to participate in a Junior Music Festival. VOCATIONAL DAY RETURNS The Business Department returns re-turns from Vocational Day April Ap-ril 29 turned out relatively well as our second year shorthand group placed second as a team. An individual award went to Joniel Aagard for placing fifth in shorthand. Two of the Shorthand I members received 90 which is a fine rating, and the type teams also made a good showing. BOYS READY FOR CHALLENGING MEET Milford's track team, ready to try for the first regional title in Milford's histroy, will compete in the Regional track meet to be held this week. The track team consists of ' Glendon Banks, Doug Fowles, Keith Gillins, Charles Holm, Terry Lofthouse, Billy Long, Bruce Mayer, Greg McGinn, Blaine Roberts, John Roberts, cert during the day and later in the afternoon all bands participated par-ticipated in a parade. The Milford Junior Band, made up of first and sceond year students, received a "I" rating. SCIENCE PROJECTS ON DISPLAY A fitting climax of the year in the Science Department Is their annual exhibit of individual indi-vidual projects, which has a definite effect on the student's learning. All biology and general science sci-ence classes participate in this extraordinary experience. Each student or. group of studnets is required to design and display at least one project for exhibition. exhibi-tion. Among some of the outstanding outstand-ing projects in this field were the display of atoms by Sue Roberts, and Robert Willing-ham's Willing-ham's live bullfrog which was caught in California. These displays build up interest in-terest in the activities of the Science Department. |
