Show METHODIST CHURCH WILL SPONSOR BOY SCOUT TROOP The Milford Community Methodist Church held a preliminary pre-liminary meeting Monday evening eve-ning in the church basement to discuss sponsoring a Boy Scout troop. Attending th meeting were 26 boys and six men. April 1 has been set as the target date for the charter, by which time all boys must pass their Tenderfoot requirements and submit their membership applications. Al Williams will act as Scoutmaster, Melvin Prodzin-ski, Prodzin-ski, Assistant Scoutmaster; Don Elmer, secretary and treasurer of the Scout Committee; Don Heath, Wayne Sieloff and Rev. Jim Sloan, committee members. Keith Long, chairman of the Official Board of the Methodist Metho-dist Church, will be the Institutional Insti-tutional Representative. . Application for membership in the troop is open to all boys 11 years of age or over. The Boy Scout program is for boys 11 to 14, with those older eligible el-igible for Explorer Scouting. The Methodist Church with its 10 million members makes the Boy Scout program available avail-able to any boy interested, regardless re-gardless of religious affiliation. The Boy Scouts of America is a non-sectarian organization, although it gives definite attention at-tention to the religious life of its members. Boys interested in affiliating with the troop are invited to contact any member of the troop committee, or attend one of the regular meetings held in the Methodist Church basement base-ment Monday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30. |
