Show BEAVER SNOW PACK 'UP' BUT BELOW NORMAL Snow measurements made by Keith Chapman of the soil conservation con-servation service in the Beaver Mountains for the month of April are better than the two previous years but still considerably con-siderably below normal. Measurements at Big Flat were 52 inches of snow with 19.8 of water. One year ago there was 36 inches of snow and 13.7 inches of water. Normal Nor-mal is 20.7 inches of water, the water content is 81 percent of normal. Otter Lake had 24 inches of snow and 8.2 inches of water compared with 5 inches of snow and 1.3 inches of water a year ago. This years water content is only 54 percent of normal however which is 15.2 inches on this snow course. Merchant Valley had only a trace of new snow this year, no snow last year, compared with 4.4 inches of water as normal. The water outlook is better than the past two years but still considerably below normal. |
