Show MILFORD MERCHANTS PREPARING BIG HARVEST DAYS' SELLING EVENT Milford's retailers are planning a big "Harvest Days" selling event for Oct. 23 and 24, to call statewide state-wide attention to their potato raising industry. On both afternoons, members of the Lady Lions and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority will serve free baked Milford Valley potatoes, potato salad, and coffee cof-fee to the oldsters and Milford Valley milk for the younger children. All Milford merchants are stocking stock-ing special merchandise for the two-day event, to be offered at attractive at-tractive prices, along with free sacks of potatoes and free tickets to the annual ESA Fashion Show. Drawings will be held in several stores for the fashion show tickets, tick-ets, and the potatoes will be given away with purchases of merchandise. merchan-dise. Thousands of tons of certified seed potatoes are grown in Milford Valley each year, most of which are shipped to the major California Califor-nia potato growing areas, but the Milford Valley spuds also are favorites fav-orites with local housewives as bakers and for frying and boiling. The Milford merchants have planned plan-ned the special merchandising event to call attention to the Milford Mil-ford Valley potatoes as a table delicacy. A huge bonfire in a rock-enclosed area on Main Street will warm the Milford visitors during the afternoon, according to Roland Culver, Milford Lions president and chairman of the event, while the ladies pass out the free bakers and the High School Band and Tigerette Marching Club will furnish fur-nish entertainment. The entertainment will continue late on Friday evening, Mr. Culver Cul-ver said, and the fashion show will be presented Saturday evening. |
