Show The Candidates . '. V i' '.'1 ' .' -'V I M. S. (BUD) BOWN Democrat Mr. Bown has served on the City Council for about' six years, and is in charge of water and sewers. Ha is a native of Provo, born July 29, 1914, to Joseph Leo and Emma Newell Bown. He married Ferl Nielson in 1939 in Paris, Idaho. He attended the BYU for three years, and has been mechanical foreman for the Union Pacific; was employed by Pacific States Pipe Co. before coming to Milford as UP machinist in 1950. He is president of the Milford Wildlife Protective Assn., and a member of the 20-30 club. He and Mrs. Bown have three children, David, 18; Emma Jo, 14, and Greg, 12. johnIhTdavis Independent Mr. Davis is a native of Miners-ville, Miners-ville, where he was born Sept. 8, 1924, to George and Arbiteen Davis. He married Betty Fother-ingham Fother-ingham in Ely, Nev., March 26, 1947. They have three children, Curtis, 6; Laurel, 3, and Courts ney, 2. Jack has served four years on the Milford City Council and is in charge of the Milford Volunteer Fire Department. He is treasurer of the Milford Area TV Assn., finance fi-nance officer of Milford Post 16 of the American Legion, and a member of the Milford Hospital Finance Committee. He is a past commander of the Milford American Legion post, ' past president of the Milford Lions Club. A World War II and Korean War veteran, he served as Air Force navigator and bombardier. He has been employed by the Milford State Bank since 1947 and is at present assistant cashier of that institution. He graduated from the Colorado Bankers School in 1957. , - . w J ' I ; '; , ' " 1 S r , 1 ' "S ' DAN ALTON SMITH Democrat Mr. Smith was born in Milford Oct. 27, 1904, to Joseph Charles and Jennie Kirk Smith. He married mar-ried Lenora Grimshaw in Beaver Oct. 11, 1924. They have no children. chil-dren. Mr. Smith is a member of the B of L F & E and legislative representative rep-resentative for Lodge 439. He is a locomotive fireman for the UP, and for 10 years served as Milford City Marshal. I . J, . h . - L Wv ROLAND LEWIS CULVER Independent Mr. Culver was born July 18, 1920, at Edgar, Nebr., to Lewis Lee and Zelma Townsen Culver. He married Amy Ward April 29, 1943, in Seattle, Wash. They have five children, Roland Allen, 14; David Hugh, 12; Marsha Rae, 10; Trudy, 8, and Susan, 6. Mr. Culver is president of the Milford Lions Club and president of. the Milford High School P.-T. A. He is an active lay leader in the Milford Community Methodist Church. During World War II he -erved more than four years in the U S Coast Guard. He was affiliated with the J. C. Penney Company for 15 years, and came to Milford in 1956 as manager man-ager of the Penney Store. At present he is owner and manager man-ager of the Culver Family Store. A " " f" .'. ' ' '- ' - - - 3fcv .- ' i f J ' f ' - . ' " ;- GALE VINCENT BANKS Democrat Mr. Banks is a locomotive fireman fire-man for the Union Pacific, and a member of the B of L F & E. He served in the U S Navy from June, 1942, to December, 1945. His former for-mer activities include employment as a lumberjack in Idaho, as a rancher in his earlier years, as a construction worker, and employment employ-ment with the Idaho State Road Commission. He was born in Boise, Idaho. June 7, 1920, to Merl R. and Inez Sullivan Banks. July 8, 1944, he married Lola Lorraine Davis in Salt Lake City. They have three children, Gary, 12; Sue Ann, 9, and Shauna, 19 months. j WALTER PRESTON MORFORD Independent I Mr. Morford was born Aug. 12, I 1916, in Salt Lake City, to Walter I Preston and Rose Bone Morford. He married Mary L. Lenox of Spring field, Mo., in 1941 in Los Angeles. They have two children, Pat, 16, and Chris, 10. Before coming to Milford, where he h::s been employed for the past 12 years as district lineman for the UP, he was employed as line construction foreman in several Western states. Mr. Morford is a member of the International Brotherhood of Elec-! Elec-! rical Workers, and of Albert Pike Lodge No. 14, F & A M of Utah. |
