Show DEAR EDITOR: . I note in your paper that the County Commissioners raised the salary of j.he "Deputy Clerk" from $200 to $250 per month. I feel the implication justifies an explanation. explana-tion. The salary increase was made by the Board and the minute entry was made by Mrs. McMullin in my vacation absence. The raise was granted to Mrs. McMullin, who is not the "Deputy Crk," but a courthouse stenographer. steno-grapher. She has worked in the courthouse offices for approximately approxi-mately four months. The $50 per month raise was granted by the Board over the protest of the County Attorney and without recommendation of any department head. Neither the County Recorder, Treasurer, Assessor, or myself, we being the legal and technical employers em-ployers of Mrs. McMullin, were even consulted about the matter. While Mrs. McMullin is doing satisfactory work considering the time she has been employed, I do not believe such an increase was justified. The past general deputy dep-uty was employed for six years and one month before she received re-ceived as much as $250 per month. Very truly yours, C. VICTOR SMITH, Beaver County Clerk and Auditor |
