Show THIS WEEK IN MINERSVILLE By MRS. EMILY GILLINS Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Mount of Murray visited Mrs. Bessie Pearson Pear-son and other relatives over the week end. Mervin Baker and sons Byron and Galend of Caliente arrived Saturday to spend a few days with his mother, Mrs. Polly Baker, and to assist in manual labor around the home. Mr. and Mrs. George Wood and Betty and Mrs. Alvaretta Robinson Robin-son were in Cedar City Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Armstrong and two children of Cedar City are here spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robinson and son James of Beaver were dinner guests Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Robinson'. Sunday the group toured the Beaver Beav-er Mountains in a jeep. Vacationers Norma and Evelyn Davis, Penny Patterson and Kenna Lou Kelsey returned home last week after exciting trips to different differ-ent parts of California. Mrs. Alvaretta Robinson accompanied accom-panied her granddaughters, Christine, Chris-tine, Ann, Louise and Caroline to their home in Salt Lake after they had spent a week here. Mrs. Amy Baker, mother of Harold Har-old Baker, spent a week at the Baker home, en route to her home in St. George after visiting her children in the northern part of the state. The program at Sunday evening Sacrament meeting was under direction di-rection of the -YWMIA officers, Speakers were Mrs. Lillian Mc-Knight, Mc-Knight, stake president, and Mrs. Arema Limb, stake counselor. First, year individual awards were received by Susan Marshall, Susan Gillins, Irma Jean Blackburn, Black-burn, Pamela Davis, Jean Dotson, Marilyn Richards, Rosalie Joyce Potter; second year awards: Joyce Myers, Jan Truman, Becky Davis, Elaine Evans, Charlotte Deanna Potter, Mary Lou Bradfield and Jacqueline Bonner; third year: Dian Boyter, Gail Truman, Marilyn Wood; fourth year: Penny Patterson, Patter-son, Betty Wood, Deloria Daryl Stephens; fifth year: Alice Adams; first year awards by speech director direc-tor instructor, Mrs. Emily Gillins; stake drama director first award, Mrs. Bernice Gillins; sixth year award, Mrs. Lillian McKnight, and seventh year award, received by Mrs. Rema Limb. Earl Limb of the bishopric made the presentations. presenta-tions. The Harold Baker picnic ground was the scene of a birthday party Friday night honoring Mrs. Virgine Jameson. A menu of grilled hamburgers, ham-burgers, hash brown potatoes, cabbage cab-bage salad, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers cucum-bers and ice cream was the delightful de-lightful food served to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wood, Clara and Vance; Grant Wood, Beaver; Mr. and Mrs. Royal Wood, Karl and Michael of Henderson, Nev.; Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson, Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Del-bert Del-bert Jameson and Alan, Bernard Jameson, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles K. Jameson. Mrs. Dorene DeMille and Karma Rae of Henderson, Nev., arrived Monday to spend a week with Mr. ' and Mrs. Charles Jameson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pearson and daughter in law, Mrs. Dixie Pearson, Pear-son, attended a missionary farewell fare-well recently at Panaca for Leon Hollingshead, son of former residents resi-dents Mr. and Mrs. Garland Hollingshead. Hol-lingshead. Leon will be assigned to a New York mission. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Roberts and three children of Spanish Fork were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Roberts last week. Mr. and Mrs. Sonnie Roberts also visited at their old home en route to Salt Lake from a vacation in California. Harold Jameson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson, extended his visit in Minersville by several weeks upon finding his health was better here than in the higher heat at Las Vegas. His wife and son returned home to take care of things there. A group of young people made plans for a party at Big Maple but after being delayed stayed in tovn , and had a delightful time at the ' home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Thomp-1 son. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marshall j showed movies of the Centennial. I Others present were Mr. and Mrs. j Dale Eyre and Mr. and Mrs. Frank I Myers. I Mr. anl Mrs. Douglas Blackburn ' and Irma Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cooper and Anna Rae enjoyed the week end at Panguitch Lake. Mrs. Lillian McKnight, principal of the Minersville school, returned home Sunday after spending six weeks at the San Diego State College, Col-lege, where she obtained her supervisory su-pervisory certificate. Mrs. McKnight Mc-Knight resided at the dormitory but was able to visit her son David, Da-vid, his wife and two children over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. George Marquard-son Marquard-son and family of McGill, Nev., are here with Mrs. Jennie Marquard-son Marquard-son and will remain until the strike is settled. Mr. and Mrs. Scott McKnight are living in Tremonton where he is employed by a brick laying company. com-pany. He expects to be em loyed on the new BYU library to bj built this fall. A phone call to Las Vega.: by G. W. Carter brought informatics that Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Carter left there Monday by plane for Salt Lake. DeWayne will receive- medical med-ical attention to determine when he will undergo an operatic n on his back. |
