Show Tigers Down Kanab For First Win The Milford Tigers hit the win eol'tmn for- the first time this season in league play when they downed Kanab Wednesday afternoon, 19-6. The Tigers scored in each of the first three periods, and Kanab got their counter in tb" first. Milford fans, jubilant over the- win, still are critical of the line play of the Tigers, and their inability to keep opposing line plungers out o'f the Tiger backiield. Scoring Wedncsdeay was on a pass from Gale Anderson to Boyd Horton in the first period, Which was good for 50 yards and the counter. The kick for extra point was low. Kanab came right back and sent Wayne Ileaton, slowed by j a leg injury, sweeping around yid for a 20-yard gallop and die tieing TD. Then Healon kicked the conversion to put his team out in front. Midway of the second period Hardy swept wide around the end for another marker, and Gale kicked the extra point. This was enough for the victory vic-tory margin, but several times in the last quarter the Tiger rooters were happy to have a two-touchdown lead, when Kanab. Ka-nab. was driving toward the goal. Milford held twice foi downs, once on the 1-yard line In the third, for the extra safety margin, Eddie Tomsik on fourth down went over center from the 1, spinning out of the hands of tacklers and plunging over. The try for point failed. Harlan Thomas was outstanding outstand-ing on defense, along with Gale Anderson and Boyd Horton. |
