Show : Candidates 'Reluctant' I As Filing- Date Nears i For City Elections Saturday, Oct. 19. is final date for filing nominating pe-I pe-I tilions for city office, and as yet no petitions have been tiled in either Beaver or Milford. Tay- j Ai a late hour Thursday Ray Kizer, Milford's mayor for the past four years, announced an-nounced that he will be a ' candidate for r. election. ! ; j lor Farnsworth the most 'talked up" as candidate for reelection. I Mayor Farnsworth has stated stat-ed that he will net be a candidate candi-date but close friends are urging him to reconsider. Olhers mentioned for the mayor's job are Ross Smith, Dr. John R. Murdcck, Hy Lee, Dr. W. D. Bishop, and Sam Hickman. Hick-man. The Beaver Republican nominating nomi-nating convention is scheduled for Friday evening in the court house. Ross Smith and Bill White are councilmen whose terms expire this year. In Milford, Mayor Ray Kizer, Wes Bolton and Jack Weston retire re-tire this year. Only "rumor" in Milford is i that Wes Bolton will run for I Mayor, with Jack Weston run-i run-i ning for reelection and Ward P. Thompson seeking the council pot.t to be vacated by Mr. Bolton. Bol-ton. Several Milford Legionnaires Legion-naires have been queried about a "Legion ticket" which it is rumored will be filed. Post Commander Alva Kfrk Jr. today issued the following statement: "Milford Post No. 16 has i never considered taking any part whatever in any political politi-cal campaign cr any election. We are a service organization, non-political and non-sectarian. We are interested in good government, but not in politics or political parties. Individual Legionnaires will cast ballots for the candidates they consider best qualified. As an organization, The Legion Le-gion has no preference." |
