Show Nephi Slates Concert By Hometown Opera Star Anna Julia Hoyt of Nephi, who has' been engaged in concert con-cert and operatic singing in New York City the past three years, will present a benefit concert in the Juab High School auditorium at Nephi on Saturday, Satur-day, August 3, at 8:15 p. m. The concert is sponsored by the Nephi Third Ward for the benefit of the Juab Stake'-Nephi Third Ward building project, and the sponsors are inviting attendance from surrounding communities and promise an evening of great music presented present-ed by a brilliant vocalist assisted assist-ed by one of the country's great pianists. Miss Hoyt is a graduate of B Y U and has studied at Juil-liard Juil-liard and Mannes music schools in New York and at summer music festivals in Tanglewood, Mass.; Marlboro, Vt, and Aspen, Asp-en, Colo. She sang the contralto con-tralto role in a notable world premiere of Seymour Barab's opera "Chanticleer" at Aspen in 1956. She has also sung the Delilah role of St. Marguerite in Honegger's "Jeanne d'Arc" at Juilliard and the mezzo role in Tchaikowsky's "Eugene Onef-gin" Onef-gin" at Mannes. . She has also sung the contralto role in Handel's Han-del's "The Messiah," including a presentation by the Ogden Oratorio Society in Utah in 1955. Miss Hoyt's program at Nephi on August 3 will include works by Henry Purcell, Gustav Mahler, Mah-ler, Gabriel Faure, and Benjamin Benja-min Britten. |
