Show Beaver Students Buy Savings Stamps The Beaver American Legion Auxiliary is doing a "bang-up" job in the sale of Savings Stamps at the Belknap Elementary school. Mrs. Agnes Whornham is chairman of the project, assisted ' by Mrs- Donna B. Cartwright and Mrs. VaLoy Ashworth. Each Wednesday they sell sav-I sav-I ings stamps at the school, with I Auxiliary President Beverly Farrer and Principal Walter I Joseph lending a helping hand when possible. Last Wednesday, sales totaled $55.20, largest amount sold in one day since the start of the project last November. Total sales for this school year amount to $409. Keith Cartwright, son of Mr. and Mrs- Omni Cart-.. Cart-.. wright, is the first student to exchange his stamp book for a $25 savings bond. "It is very interesting," Mrs. Whornham said, "to note how enthusiastic the pupils become when they realze the value of thrift, and that money which might otherwise be spent foolishly fool-ishly is starting them out with U S Savngs Bonds." Gloria Griffiths, daughter cf Mr. and Mrs. Clark Griffiths, purchased stamps with her entire en-tire savings, $10.40.
