WSU Guitar Ensemble members scheduled to perform May 20. Ensembles for everyone 1 MUSICAL QUARTET: Four different student musical groups will entertain classical music efficianados throughout the upcoming week. Jazz Ensemble Weber State University Jazz Ensemble will perform May 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Allred Theater of the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. The group will be under the direction of Dr. Donald Keipp. They will perform such standards as "Birth of the Blues," "Chameleon," "Spain," "On Green Dolphin Street," and " On the Sunny Side of the Street." Returning guest artists will be Joe McQueen on tenor saxophone, Dave Eskridge on piano and Lars Yorgason on bass. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Guitar Ensemble Weber State University Guitar Ensemble will perform May 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Allred Theater of the Val. A. Browning center for the Performing Arts. This Classical Guitar Concert will feature 400 years of the repertoire for guitar quartet, trio, duet and solo. The music will comprise arrangements from the Renaissance to the music of the Spanish masters. The WSU Classical Guitar Ensemble members are: Mark Maxson, Troy Leavitt, Judson Armstrong and Patrick Murphy. They are under the direction of Todd Woodbury. Admission is free. Choir Concert The Annual Weber State Spring Choral Concert featuring the Chamber Concert Choir will perform May 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Allred Theater of the Val A. Browning Center. This will be the last concert before the Concert Choir's European tour to Czechoslovakia, Austria and Germany. Many of the selections will be works to be performed on the tour. Featured works will include "Hymn to St. Cecilia," by Benjamin Britten and will be sung by the Chamber Choir. The Concert Choir will sing a well known Czech folk song, "Tece Voda Tece," which was banned during the Communist era because of its advocation for freedom. Reserved seats are $3 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens. Sound System Weber State Sound System will perform May 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Allred Theater of the Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. The 12 singers will sing traditional Jazz favorites such as "body and Soul," "Tuxedo Junction" and "Nearness to You." They will also sing new songs such as "New York Afternoon" and "When October Goes." The band will perform pieces such as "High Fly" and "Filthy McNasty." Tickets are available at the Dee Events Center ticket office, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.. to 5 p.m. They can also be purchased at the Browning Center ticket office one hour before the performance.
