Play Review 'As You Like It' Entertains WSC Audience by Chris Larsen Staff Reporter The only reason people don't like Shakespearean plays is becasue half of the play goes over their head. "As You Like It" is a hilariously funny play -if you can concentrate on the dialogue of the play. I concentrated very hard, and I still felt I was missing half of the lines. But I did laugh quite a bit. It was very enjoyable. "As You Like It" is a wonderful play one of Shakespeare's best. It is playing from now until May 5 in the Allred Theatre. The play is directed by William Shorr, who comes to Weber State from Aspen. Shorr is founder of the American Theatre Company and the Aspen Playwright's Conference. "As You Like It" is the story of lovers in the forest of Arden, which is inhabited by a band of merry men and rustic misfits. The scenery is excellent and well done. Trees, vines, flowers and bushes looked realistic. Again, overall "As You Like It" is an enjoyable, funny play. If you plan on going, make sure you listen closely to all the dialogue to catch the humor. Credit should be given to Shorr for bringing together a very talented group of actors, actresses, and technical people. Saturday night was a night to remember if you were at the Huey Lewis and the News concert held in the Salt Palace. It was an evening of good rock and roll music, mixed with the R and B sound that has made the band so famous. If you can completely forget the opening act, a man who called himself "Doctor Gonzo," the program was very good. The concert started out with the group's current single "Heart of Rock and Roll" which left everybody dancing in the aisles The group then sang some old songs from two previous albums, including "Do You Believe In Love" and "Workin' For A Living." Even though I am a relative newcomer to the sounds of Huey Lewis, I found all the songs quite entertaining. The harmony this group has is great. They have a special six-part harmony that just seems to blend together. Usually you get a band with no harmony and great music or great harmony and so-so music, but this group has both great music and great harmony. To me this is the exception rather than the rule of music today. The new Huey Lewis and the News album, Sports, was featured and showed the band's versatility by playing songs with different emphasises including rhythm and blues, rock and roll and honkey tonk. The band does all types rather well and often blends them for the unique sound they are noted for. The group gave a double encore to thousands of screaming fans that wouldn't take no for an answer. They sang, among other songs, "I Want A New Drug" and "Bad Is Bad," which included solos from all the band members including Lewis himself on theharmonica.
