FACES TAUGHT AND muscles straining, the Weber State basketball team is working out daily in the gym in preparation for its season opener against Brigham Young University on Dec. 6. (Photo by Dianne Sheldon) Visscher happy with 'Cats' basketball team "You would have to say I'm pleased with the way our team looks," said basketball coach Gene Visscher as the first month of practice winds up in Wildcat gym. "We have excellent height and good speed. I also believe that we are better overall shooters than we were a year ago," Visscher said. The Wildcat fans will have their first opportunity to watch this year's team in action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Wildcat gym. The Varsity squad will spot the JV's some points, then tip off in the annual affair sponsored by the Wildcat Club. Ticket prices remain $1 for adults, 50 cents for students, as in the past. Tickets will be sold at the door and all seats are general admission. WSC-BYU The Wildcats swing into action for real on Friday, Dec. 6, against in-state rival Brigham Young University. Other home games are scheduled with Utah State University, Colorado State University, Western Montana and the Big Sky Conference schools. In addition, the Wildcats will play in the University of Utah Classic in Salt Lake with their first game against talented Western Virginia. The tournament is scneauiea Dec. 13 and 14. Tickets for all home games, the Utah Tournament and the Utah State game in Logan are all available at the Weber State ticket office in the stadium. Pick-ups for home games will be as last year, three days prior to the date of the game, from 8 : 3C a.m. to 4:30 p.m. five days a week. Ticket policy set by athletic dept. Ticket policy has been announced for basketball games this year by the Weber State College athletic department. Except for the variances from the norm listed below, students need only to show their validated I.D. cards as they walk into the game on a particular night. The exceptions will be for the first home game against Brigham Young University on Dec. 6 and the final home game against Utah State University on March 5 For these games only, students are to pics up tickets within three school days prior to the night of the game (Dec. 3-6 for the BYU game and Feb. 28-March 5 for the USU contest) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p. m. at the stadium ticket office.Any remaining tickets for those two games can be picked up at the gym on the night of the game. Students can pick up a maximum of four tickets with four I.D. cards for the BYU and USU games. Additional ticket information can be obtained by phoning the ticket office at 392-2962. |
