While workmen work-men were engaged iu the erection of the New Wonderland theatre, the roof i collated, carry) ug down the iron gal- leries of the structure, ami a great ' mass of scaffolding and debris. Some 30 men were working1 under the eol-! eol-! laspcd parts of the structure. Scarcely ; any of these men seem to have escaped injury. The bo. In s of li I'leen dead men have already been recovered. Several others are fatally injured, j As nearly as can be ascertained the I cau.se of the accident was the removal ! of the temporary wooden braces which supported the roof. The instant the last one was taken down the whole roof caved in with a crash, carrying everything- in the interior oi' the buiid-I buiid-I iug- to tlie basement with it.
