Show A TRAITOR'S FATE. Deserter "Who Jollied the Insurgents Now Sleeps in an I'ntnarltctl Grave. Manila, March 10. The American, a daily paper published here, says: "Ex-Corporal "Ex-Corporal John W. Uays of company D, First California volunteers, a traitor and deserter, has found his just end. His body now lies in a trench dug- to bury the enemies of his country who fell in battle, with no slab, his name forever hated by his own repimont. "Hays came with his regiment to Manila. Last October he married a Filipino and two clays later deserted to the insurgent line. This was the last his repiment heard or cared to hear about him until yesterday, when bury-intr bury-intr the dead insurgents they came across his dead body, riddled with bullets, bul-lets, with the clothes of a first lieutenant lieu-tenant of the insurg-ents. |
