Show POPPY DAY FUNDS PROTECT VETS Funds which enable the American Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary to aid war veterans in distress come largely from the contributions made by those who wear memorial poppies pop-pies on Poppy Day, Mrs. Mabel Brimhall, rehabilitation chairman of Bingham Auxiliary Unit, said today as she helped complete preparations for the observance of Poppy Day here May 25th. "The dimes, quarters and dollars dol-lars dropped into the coin boxes of the auxiliary's Poppy Day volunteers are divided two ways", Mrs. Brimhall explained. "Half goes to our work for veterans vet-erans and half to our child welfare wel-fare work. These funds are available avail-able throughout the year for relief re-lief of distress among veterans and veterans' children. "The bulk of the money stays right here in the treasury of our local auxiliary unit and is expended ex-pended locally. We buy the poppies pop-pies from the Utah department of the auxiliary which has them made by disabled veterans at V. A. Tlospital, Salt Lake City, There is no overhead for promotion promo-tion or management and, since all Poppy day workers are volunteers, vol-unteers, every penny contributed contribut-ed goes for the purposes for which it is given.
