Show big increase in utah metal output mines in utah produced gold silver copper leimand 1915 amounting to aa estimated by V C heika of the united states geological survey this represents an over tho production in 1914 of nearly 60 per cent or there was a considerable increate dinall the metals about one fourth more ore was inifred ini increasing inc the total from tons in 1914 to about tons in 1915 about tona were ed at bingham an increase from tons in 1914 the bulk of this ore was mined at the utah and ohio copper properties which yielded about tons of low grade ore in 1915 other mines that contributed large quantities of ore were the utah consolidated utah states bingham bingham new haven and utah metal mines the district produced about tons against tons in 1914 the main ore producers were the chief consolidated iron blossom centen mal eureka eagle and blue bell mammoth gemini grand central and may day mines the ton concentration mill built primarily to treat chief consolidated ores did considerable custom work in the park cita region about tons of crude ore and concen were shipped against 66 tons in 1914 improvements in concentration cent ration methods resulted in large shipments of lead and zinc concentrate from daly judge daly west and sliver king coalition mills two large concentration mills built for treating tailings on the flats below park city flotation was adopted at several mills in the region and the prospect is that nil the mills will be similarly equipped in 1916 in beaver county the ore shipments including a considerable quantity of old blag amounted to about tons against shipments of tons in 1914 ann cipully from the horn silver and majestic mines in thoele tooele county the ore production pally from stockton aud ophir increased from tons to tons in 1915 there were tons of ore hauled from the cottonwood district to the sm eltera in 1915 the largest producer was the cardiff mine which lelda rich lead silver ore important shipments of silver ore were made from the south hecei and the michigan utah properties zinc ore was shipped from the car bonate lonate mine the mine output of gold increased over 19 per cent from in 1914 to in 1915 copper ores yielded the largest part of the gold but large quantities alo come from lead ore and siliceous ore A small quantity of copper ore was produced in gold and silver nulls high grade gold ore was mined in the bull val ley district of washington counte during part of the year and in the last half of the year new development in the fortuna district of beiver county attracted attention and wide veins of low grade gold ore are said to be systematically ei plotted ed at the same time small high grade veins of gold ore are being mined and milled by lessels lessees the mine production of silver in creased from ounces in approximately ounces in 1915 the increase amounting to 14 per cent in quintila quin tily and about in value much of the silver is derived from lead ore and smaller quantities from the copper ind siliceous ores early in the knight chistensen and lebau mil was destroyed by fire and during the summer was being reconstructed at balver city by the gintic tintic mill ing co which dismantled a similar blant at park city that was recently used to treat ontario ores the new plant ill probably be in operation early in 1916 the copper output from utah mines increased from pounds in 1914 to about pounds in 1915 the increase amounting to more than 20 per cent in quantity and in value the gain vw made mostly by the utah copper mine at benghim Bin ghim which is credited with an increase of pounds over the output of 1914 low gride porphyry ore was produced from the utah copper property and a smaller quantity from the ohio copper mine the cactus mine in southern utah was not operated but preparations were being made by a leasing company using the ho tation process to re treat the cactus tailings which are reported to carry 14 pounds of copper per ton the ohio copper mine and mill after going into the hands of a receiver were for a long time idle but during the last half of the year were being operated by the mine production of lead increased from pounds in 1914 to pounds in lolo 1010 or about 28 per cent mostly from the bingham district where the utah apex utah united states and higham new haven were the larger producers in park city the siler kine coalition daly wait daly judge and stiver king consolidated added the cotil output in the cotton woods the mines produced over pounds of lead a large part of it coming from the cardiff property with an advance in prices zinc ore was offered amm many sources the mine production of zinc recoverable as spelter aggregated 22 pounds valued at about this an increase of 41 per cent in quantity over the output of 1911 1 amounting to pounds the largest shipments of zinc concentrates were made from the midvale mill of the united stites mining company which treated some ore besides that handled aiom ita own property at bigham the calv judge mine at park city was the next produces of concentrate a followed by daly west and the mills recovering zinc from the old tailing lodged on the flat below paik city promontory district in box elder county prominent in zinc production from the lake view mine which is credited with pounds of zinc figured as recoverable speller new zinc deposits were also opened hyrkin in ciche county and woodside in emery county each district producing several cara of crude zinc ore altogether there were 38 producers of zinc ore in utah in 1915 all the smelling smelting sm elting were operating at full capacity capi city boon after alie first of the ear these ft crothe burny midvale anter n it ional and garfield
