Show j JUDGE D. H. MORRIS GIVES HIS POLITICAL VIEWS Judge D. H. Morris, a prominent Democrat of St. George, while in town Tuesday, stated to a News representative, rep-resentative, that under no circumstances circum-stances would he be a candidate for district judge this fall that he thought O. A. Murdock, of Beaver county, would be unopposed for the Democratic nomination. When questioned as to who the Democrats would nominate for governor gov-ernor this fall, the Judge said that it depended on who the Republicans put up that if the Republicans nominated a Mormon he favored the nomination of a Mormon by the Democrats that if the Republicans nominated Mabey or Seegmiller, the Democrats should nominate Neslin; but if the Republicans nominated Wattis, the Democrats should nominate nomi-nate Dern both of whom are Gentiles. Farther, the Judge said that it has been the rule for years that one senator sena-tor should be a Mormon and the other oth-er senator a Gentile, but two years ago the rule was broken and now the Mormons had both U. S. senators and also the governor; that while he was a Mormon, he did not think it proper for the church to have all the offices. Another good Democrat, Mount Taylor, from Salt Lake, however, does not agree with the Judge. Mr. Taylor says that The Judge lives too far from the center of things to be a good political prophet. According to his opinion Mr. Neslen will be the Democratic candidate, no matter who the Republican candidate may be. And thus do the democrats agree. Beaver County News. |
