Show HURRICANE ! Cathren Riding Reporter Clara Grace Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Smith of Salt Lake City is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Jepson. William Banis of New Harmony is spending a few days in Hurricane. Hur-ricane. Mrs. Jerry Johnson has just returned home from San Jose, Calif., where she has been visiting with her two daughters, Mrs. Frank Nunes and family and Miss Edith Johnson. Miss Johnson is employed in San Jose. She also visited in Los Angeles with Mrs. Retta Gibson and family and with friends in San Francisco, Oakland, Oak-land, Niles, Santa Cruz and Pacific Pa-cific Grove. Mrs. Elmer Graff entertained at a Kensington Friday evening. A lunch was served to the following ladies: Mesdames Lafayette Sta-heli, Sta-heli, Carl Larson, Claud Hirschi, Glen Williams, Walter Workman, Maurice Nuttall, Rex Stirling, Thomas Stanworth, Paul Gates, Owen Bergener and Elwood Hardy. Miss Betty Lou Stevens and Miss Gwynne Bradshaw have returned re-turned from Grand Canyon, where they have been employed. Miss Stevens is now helping her father, Mayor George Stevens in the gar age. Miss Merline Stevens is employed em-ployed in the Hurricane Drug store. Miss Genevieve Isom, who is a nurse at the L. D. S. hospital at Salt Lake City, spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of her father, Thomas Isom. The Boy Scouts of the South ward went Friday for an outing at Navajo lake. They also fished at Duck lake. The driver of the truck was Delmar Hinton. Scouts were Robert Bergner, Donald Sta-. heli, Jerry Graff, Bruce Woodbury, Wood-bury, Vaughn Pulsipher, Ira Webb Bradshaw, Twain Scow, Clark Campbell, Buddy Hinton, Howard Bardwell, Verdell Hinton, Rodney Perkins, Dick Bardwell, Olin Hinton, Hin-ton, Mack Saunders, Max Heaton, Wayne Kleinman, Alma Slack and Victor Hall. Miss Christie Workman, who has been working at the Z.C.M.I. at Salt Lake City, returned home Thursday. Mrs. Clark Mclntyre and son, Joe Dee have returned from a visit Friday at Navajo lake. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fitzpat-rick Fitzpat-rick and Mr. Fitzpatrick's mother spent Friday at Navajo lake. Jack Scholzen went to Salt Lake City Friday. His aunt, Mrs. J. T. Pease, who is visiting here from San Antonio, Texas, accompanied ac-companied him.. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Daggs and daughter, Darlene, left Monday for Pocatello, Ida., to be gone six weeks. Lieutenant Wickman received orders to report at Long Beach for Army duty. Mrs. Wickman accompanied him. She will make her home with her mother at Santa Barbara for the duration. Mrs. Alvin Hall entered the McGregor hospital in St. George Tuesday for surgery. Beverly, and Una Hall are spending their vacation at Pine Valley. Mrs. Mary Dickenson has returned re-turned to her home in Panguitch, after several weeks visiting with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Nelpher Wright. Merle Hinton, son of Mrs. Zira Hinton, came in Sunday and left Tuesday. He is with the Navy. Darwin Stratton returned to the Army today after a ten-day leave. Miss Elaine Sandberg and Miss Barbara Hirschi returned Thursday Thurs-day from a visit in California. Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Sandberg Sand-berg are visiting in Las Vegas with Mrs. Sandberg's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Sullivan. The American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Englestead Wednesday evening. eve-ning. Mrs. Finley Judd entertained at a Bridge party for the members of the Alice Louise Reynolds club who have assisted her the past year on the entertainment committees. com-mittees. Mrs. Finley Judd, president, and Mrs. Jennie Greaves, production manager of the Hurricane chapter of the American Red Cross have sent their third shipment of 125 articles to headquarters. This work was done by women of Hurricane, Hur-ricane, Toquerville, Virgin and La- Verkin. Among these articles were 20 ladies' cardigans. It is estimated esti-mated that this shipment has a value of over one thousand dollars. dol-lars. Miss Christie Workman has accepted ac-cepted a position with the Hurricane Hur-ricane State bank. Mrs. Susie Williams has as her house guest this week, her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Louise Bartlett and son, from El Paso, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Nelpher Wright have gone to Salt Lake City and Tooele visiting friends and looking look-ing for work. Little Diane Cornelius is visiting visit-ing with her aunt, Mrs. Golden Taylor. Entertain Outgoing Officers Saturday evening the Zion Park stake officers entertained the outgoing out-going officers on the spacious lawn at Frank Barber's home. Wayne Hinton acted as master of ceremonies. Community singing) was led by Owen Bergener, with Mrs. Pauline Wilson at the piano. The prosecuting prose-cuting attorney was Claud Hirschi. Hir-schi. Counsel for the defense was Chauncey Sandberg. 'Judge was Vernon Church. Witnesses were R. P. Woodbury and John Humphries. Hum-phries. The defendant was found guilty and sentenced to six months hard labor in organizing a "Milk the Cow Club". Charter members to be wives of the judge and attorneys. at-torneys.
