Show HURRICANE Mrs. Vernet llinton Reporter John Humphries is still in a serious ser-ious condition in a hospital up north. Merril Hinton was here this week end from Nevada. Max Jepson left Sunday for Provo with a load of scrap metal. The following boys left Tuesday to report for U. S. service: Don Gibson, Paul LeBaron, Price Workman and Linden Bradshaw. Mr. Standley, operator of the Wasatch service station went to Salt Lake City on business Monday Mon-day and returned Friday. Ilean Woodbury returned to her school at Logan Sunday. A wedding shower for Mrs. Gene Bradshaw was held at Mrs. Ira H. Bradshaw's, mother of the groom. Hostesses were: Mrs. Ira H. Bradshaw and Mrs. Elmer Graff. A friendship shower was held for Mrs. Evelyn Stout Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hirschi are leaving for Salt Lake City the latter part of the week to resume his work in the legislature. Mrs. Ernest Shae (formerly Florence Wright) went to 'San Francisco to meet her husband, who has been overseas for a year and in active duty to all of the islands. He has been in the Guam and Coorigedor islands. They spent a few days here and went to Pocatello, Ida., where he will be stationed for some time. Mrs. Hannah Spilsbury of St. George was a visitor at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Allen Stout this week end. Mrs. Hazel Walker left Tuesday Tues-day for Caliente, to visit with her husband, who has employment there. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sullivan of Las Vegas spent New Year's day here with relatives. Fenton Hirschi, Verl Langston and Rulon Woodbury left Monday for the A. C. at Logan to resume their work there, after spending the holidays here. Mr. and Mrs. John Heaton and two daughters of Cedar City were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George I. Spendlove on New Year's day. Mrs. LaWren Wilson and baby are visiting at the home of Mrs. Wilson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wright. Eldon Walker spent Sunday in Rockville visiting. Mr, and Mrs. Sam Wilson were business visitors in Cedar City Monday. Melba Stratton was rushed to tfte Iron county hospital Dec. 27, for an appendix operation. Ward and Homer Gibson both have been here on furloughs. Ward left Saturday for North Carolina, where he has been stationed. sta-tioned. Harold Anderson came home from his work at Las Vegas with pneumonia. At the time of this writing he was much improved. A good time was had at the New Year's Eve dance sponsored by the stake M. I. A. Coach Brooks and his ball team left Friday to play Milford and Saturday to play Beaver. They were victorious in both games. The scores were: Milford 17, Hurricane Hur-ricane 29; and Beaver 32, Hurricane Hur-ricane 38. Mrs. Wilford Leany at present is critically ill at her home. Captain and Mrs. Virgil White and two sons are here visiting at the home of Mrs. White's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spendlove. Spend-love. i Mr. and Mrs. LaWayne Wood and family of Boulder City, spent New Year's day at the home of Mrs. Anna Wood. Orval Webb is home from Nevada for an extended stay with his family. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Barrick of Cedar City were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Max Jepson New Year's day. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hall returned re-turned Saturday night from their two week's vacation at Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reber spent two days in Bunkerville and Mes-quite, Mes-quite, visiting relatives. The Hurricane high orchestra played for a dance New Year's night at Santa Clara. |
