Show Visiting this week with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Riddle are Mrs Laura Stevens and Mrs. Clara Robinson of Ilolden, Utah. Mrs. Morlo Brinkerhoff and two children of Glendale, Utah were visiting relatives in St. George last week, returning home Saturday. Sat-urday. The Foster camp of the D. U. P. will hold their April sessions at the home of Mrs. Lucy Keate Thursday, April 22nd, having postponed post-poned the date one week due to conflicting programs. Mr. and Mrs. Rex McArthur Mr. and Mrs. Donald Brinkerhoff, Mrs. Florence Lamb and Mrs Charlotte V. Atkin motored to Glendale, Utah, last Sunday to attend the Monday afternoon funeral fun-eral services of Alonzo Brinkerhoff, Brinker-hoff, who died at his home there Saturday. He was the father of Mrs. McArthur, Donald Brinkerhoff Brinker-hoff and Mrs. Lamb. Miss Maxine Sullivan returned Sunday evening from Los Angeles, An-geles, where she spent the week with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Milne. Mr. Milne was visiting relatives in St. George and Washington the previous week. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Allred and daughter Leda, were in St. George Wednesday to meet another daughter, daugh-ter, Miss Verdon Allred, who was returning from Los Angeles for her marriage. Mrs. J. Q. Adams arrived Tuesday Tues-day from Midvale, to visit several days with her mother, Mrs. Ida Seegmiller and sisters, Mishie SeegmiUer and Ellen S. Bentley. Mrs. Roxey Romney and her sister, Mrs. O. F. Call of Pocatello, Ida., returned Wednesday from Los Angeles and Mesa, Ariz., where they have been visiting for some time. Mrs. Call will visit relatives in St. George for a week before going on to her home. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kemp arrived ar-rived Monday evening from Long Beach, Calif., where Mr. Kemp has been employed in defense work for an extended period. Mrs. Kemp is the former Beth Wade. Mr. Kemp has been forging ahead in his work and is now a group leader in his division. This is his first visit home in more than 16 months. Mr. and Mrs. George Jay and small son of Layton, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Carlos Schmutz and baby of Provo, returned home Sunday, after visiting in St. George since Thursday. Mrs. Andrew McArthur was hostess to the Bridge Ettes at her home Monday afternoon. Mrs. Robert Pickett and Mrs. Darrel Bracken of Ely, Nev., a guest for the afternoon, shared the honors. Mr. and Mrs. William Brooks entertained a small group last Saturday evening at a chicken roast at the Explorer's Cave on the Red Hill. The affair had been arranged to honor Mr. and Mrs. Jonreed Lauritzen, who failed to arrive from Las Vegas for the event. Center ward Explorers under direction of their advisory committee, com-mittee, Charles Merkeley, Ralph Huntsman and Heber C. Cottam, entertained their partners at the cave last Tuesday evening. Ralph Huntsman was in charge of the program of singing and games. A Dutch oven lunch with hot chocolate was served. The St. George telephone employees em-ployees held a farewell party and shower Wednesday evening at the home of Miss Evelyn Hawkins, honoring Miss Alice Marie Mickle-son, Mickle-son, who is awaiting her order to leave for Salt Lake City, where she will be officially assigned to one of the training centers for the WAACS. A smart program of games preceded the serving of a lunch and opening of gifts. |
