Show Large Crowd Attends Funeral Services For Frederick Fawcett A large audience of relatives and friends attended the funeral services for Frederick Fawcett, ; held in the St. George Stake Tab- ernacle, Friday, August 24, at 5 I p.m. Bp. Andrew McArthur of the South Ward conducted the-service, with Mrs. Vernon Cannon at the j organ. I Musical numbers were "Beautiful "Beauti-ful Isle of Somewhere," by Melba j Baker, Vera Blake, Murray Webb and Grant Harris, and vocal solos 1 "Oh, My Father," by J. W. McAllister Mc-Allister accompanied by his sister sis-ter Mrs. Harry Pearce, and "Peace I Leave With You," by Melba Baker, Mrs. Cannon at the piano. Speakers were John H. Schmutz of the Center Ward bishopric and . brother-in-law of Mrs. Fawcett, I and Walter Cannon, a lifelong friend and neighbor. Mr. Schmutz outlined man's hope of eternity, told of Mr. Fawcett's rich heritage heri-tage through his courageous pioneer pio-neer parents who contributed so much to the upbuilding of this area, and paid tribute to Mr. Fawcett and his wife for their congeniality, sincere friendliness j and their excellent family. Mr. Cannon spoke of Mr. Faw- cett and his twin brother, J. R Fawcett, their association as (Continued on page eight) Frederick Fawcett (Continued from first page) young boys herding cattle along the Rio Virgin, their efforts to obtain an education and provide for their families, of their kindness kind-ness to their aged mother who spent her last years with Fred and his family, and of Fred's tolerance tol-erance and patience, his consideration consider-ation for his wife and children. Brief closing remarks were made made by Bp. Andrew Mc-Arthur, Mc-Arthur, who said Mr. Fawcett has lived as a "man by the side of the road," doing good to all who came his way. Prayers were by B. F. Pendleton Pendle-ton and Milton E. Moody. The grave in the city cemetery was dedicated by Patriarch George E. Miles. |
