Show Stanley N. Child Files For Governorship Race Rapidly coming to the front as candidate for the Governorship of Utah, is Stanley N. Child, hailed as a prominent Utah Senator and outstanding Intermountain businessman busi-nessman and contractor. Backed by dozens of petitions, Senator Child formally "tossed his hat into the ring" last midweek. His growing popularity with voters is attested by the hundreds of signatures on these petitions, which i include legislators, city and county officials. Descended from Utah pioneers, and veteran of the first world war, where he served 22 months, Mr. Child is member of the American Ameri-can Legion, Salt Lake Post No. 2. He is a graduate of the University of Utah, and member of the L.D.S. church and has a record of active participation in many civic, religious, patriotic and community events. He and Mrs. Child have three children, the eldest son, Stanley Jr., is in military service. State representative from 1935 to 1939 and state Senator since 1939, Mr. Child has been recognized recog-nized for his intelligent, sincere and effective work. His background back-ground of . preparation and comprehension com-prehension of state legislative needs is stressed by his supporters !As a mason contractor, his firm has participated in the erection of several important Utah buildings including the Ogden high school, the municipal auditorium in Price, Bushnell General Hospital in Brig-ham Brig-ham City, the Ogden City and County building, as well as the renowned L. D. S. chapel in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. |
