Show County Offices To Be Set Up For Volunteer Civilian Defense Work Volunteer offices for Civilian Defense, De-fense, will be set up by county councils of defense in all of Utah's twenty-nine counties. Gov. Herbert Herb-ert B. Maw. chairman of the Utah Council of Defense has announced. The offices will be the point of contact between those who registered reg-istered for Civilian Defense and those chairmen who will direct their activities. The announcement came after a visit to Salt Lake City of Mrs. Helen Schreiner, of San Francisco, representative of the Volunteers' office of the office of Civilian Defense De-fense for the western region. She outlined plans for the state office which will supervise and coordinate coordin-ate the work of the county council coun-cil offices in the various county scats. The way the offices will operate is this: The office will classify those who volunteered services into the various groups for which they volunteered. If necessary, they will be interviewed inter-viewed at to their qualifications for the work for which they volunteered. vol-unteered. When necessary,, they will be referred to classes for instruction in their work. When ready, they will be assigned as-signed to their duties which they will perform until the end of the emergency. Thus, all those who have volunteered volun-teered will get an opportunity to give their services for Civilian Defense. The state offices will be functioning within the next few weeks and the county offices will be organized shortly thereafter. |
