Show Dixie College Fine Arts Festival To Be Held December 3-5 Well Rounded Out Program To Be Presented By Dixie Departments One of Dixie's outstanding cultural cul-tural activities, the Fine Arts Festival, will be hold this year December 3-5. Ralph Huntsman, chairman of the Festival, states that this year's program will be at least on a par with the best of the past. The signing up of the Utah State Symphony orchestra completes com-pletes the plans for the three days. This orchestra, very popular in the state, is directed by Hans Heniot, prominent, Chicagoan, who is nationally known for his work as a musician and as a director. The objective of the organization organiza-tion is to furnish music for the masses, not for the classes. It is sponsored by the State Orchestra association, a department of the Utah State Institute of Fine Arts, in cooperation with Utah WPA music' propect. These musicians are augmented by picked professional profes-sional instrumentalists. The orchestra will appeal- on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 4. Miss Myrtle Henderson, director, direc-tor, will present the Festival play, "The Celebrity", on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 3, to start off the three-day program. Miss Henderson has been working work-ing for some time with a carefully-selected cast, who promise a very entertaining comedy. Pictures are being received every day for the art exhibit, the opening of which will be announced announc-ed soon. This exhibit promises to be one of the best we have had, declares Mr. Huntsman. The Beaux Arts Ball on Friday, Dec. 5, will culminate a day devoted de-voted to the pictorial arts. At this time the queen of the Festival will be crowned. Mr. Huntsman, besides being general chairman, is responsible for the day of art and the art exhibit. ex-hibit. Miss Linna Snow is chairman chair-man of the day of literature, and Earl J. Bleak is directing the day devoted to music. The complete program will be available next week. |
