Show Funeral Services Held On Monday At Hurricane For Mrs. Leona Stratton HURRICANE, Utah, Nov. 20. Funeral services were held Monday Mon-day in the stake chapel for Mrs. Leona Morrill Stratton, 3G, who died in the Iron county hospital, Nov. 14. The services began at 2 p. m., with Bishop Allen Stout in charge. First Number The first number was a vocal duet entitled, "Whispering Hope", by Mrs. Walter Brooks and Miss Norine Lcmmon. Ben F. LeBaron offered the opening prayer. Glenn M. Webb next rendered a clarinet solo, "The End of A Perfect Day". Lafayette Hall, the first speaker, speak-er, spoke of his intimate acquaintance; acquaint-ance; how he had found Leona to be always willing to do for others. She performed her duties willingly and faithfully. Paul Wilson next sang a vocal solo entitled, "Hold Thou My Hand, Dear Lord", and was followed fol-lowed by a tribute from the North ward Primary given by Mrs. Joyce Hoyt. Walter Brooks was the next speaker. He stated that most people gave death a more terrifying terri-fying meaning than the Lord intended in-tended it to have. To us it is a parting which is hard for many to understand. Along with the word death, which is the parting, is another an-other word, the resurrection, which is the uniting. He said that (Continued on page three) Leona Stratton Funeral (Continued on page three) through the lives of her children, her life would be a guiding star to, them, and they would have been made better by the fine example ex-ample she set forth while living. He urged the family to be thankful thank-ful for the Gospel plan which would enable them to be again united with this mother and wife. The next number was a violin duet, "Oh, My Father", by Roma Heaton and Gwynn Bradshaw. Bishop Wilson Concludes Bishop Morris Wilson, the concluding con-cluding speaker, stated that Leona had had great faith in the divinity of the Gospel and had taught her children to follow the teachings set forth by it. He also spoke of his early acquaintance with her. The closing number was a vocal duet entitled, "One Fleeting Hours", by Florence and Barbara Beatty. Wilford Leany offered the closing prayer. Leona Morrill Stratton was born in Circleville on Nov. 19, 1905. She was married to Thomas Stratton on Dec. 3, 1930. Surviving her besides her husband hus-band are four children: Thell, Arden, Clara and Marlow. Also the following brothers and sisters: Clarence Morrill of Marysvale; Melvin Morrill of Elsinore, Utah; Stanley Morrill of Montrose, Colo., and Mrs. Lena Lamb of Los Angeles. An-geles. Also surviving are her foster mother, Mrs. Lydia Elder of Kingston, and a grandmother, Mrs. Emma Mansor. Foster brothers and sisters are: Mrs. Chess Snow of Kingston: Mrs. Robert Calahan of Hatch; Mrs. Girn Stratton of Hurricane; Mrs. Roy Williams of Marysvale, and Mrs. Garth Anderson Ander-son of Kingston. |
