The college is in receipt of a letter from Paul Crosby, staff sergeant at San Lius Obispo. Paul writes of the interest the boys still have in the college and its doings, and expresses appreciation for the receipt of the college newspaper. He enclosed a copy of the company newspaper. D. J. C. R. A. Ashby will be the speaker at the Institute Sunday school on Nov. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Welker and Mr. and Mrs. Pearson Corbett will attend the Institute teachers' convention at Ephraim Saturday and Sunday. Both instructors are scheduled to participate in the program. D. J. C. III School Basketball To Start With the conclusion of the high school football season Friday, Coach Leland Hafen is making ac-tice ac-tice plans to start basketball practice. prac-tice. An intramural tournament will commence next week, with the idea of selecting the best possible candidates for the school squad. Several practice games have already al-ready been arranged, including a trip to northern Utah. Present dates include: Dec. 18, Murray at Murray; Dec. 19, Cyprus at Magna; Dec. 20, Beaver at Beaver; Bea-ver; Jan. 2, Payson at Dixie. D.J.C. Time sheets for 31 members of the college NYA secretary pool have been sent in. At approximately approxi-mately $19 each for the first month's work, a total of nearly $600 will be paid out to the students stu-dents early next month. D. J. C. The geology and biology students stu-dents of the Dixie college are planning a field trip to the Grand Canyon this week-end. The trip was originally scheduled earlier in the month, but was postponed because of the storms. Dr. Frank Gould is in charge of the trip, and it is anticipated that several other faculty members will participate. par-ticipate. D. J. C. Tennis Club Notes The Tennis club is planning a tournament for the near future. Townspeople are invited to participate partici-pate with the students in this club. Inquiries have been received concerning the use of the court at night. If there is sufficient interest, inter-est, the lights will be turned on and the court made available. Las Vegas and other cities are interested in engaging the local tennis enthusiasts in tourneys. Those interested in the tourneys or in night playing should get in touch with B. Glen Smith, club sponsor, or Robert Fordham, club president. D. J. C. Guest Speakers At Assembly President and Mrs. Franklin S. Harris of the Brigham Young university uni-versity will be the guest speakers at the assembly held next Wednesday Wed-nesday morning at eleven. Both Mr. and Mrs. Harris have traveled extensively and are particularly par-ticularly well acquainted with the political and industrial conditions in the persent war front.
