Show Armistice Day Program How Complete Program Includes Meeting In Morning; Parade, Rodeo and Evening Dance plans are now completed for the 1942 Armistice Day program and rodeo being sponsored in St. George for another season by the American Legion and Auxiliary announces Charles E. Pickett, publicity pub-licity chairman. The day's events will include a forenoon public meeting, an afternoon rodeo, preceded pre-ceded by a "Defense for Victory Parade", and a dance in the evening eve-ning at the Recreation hall. The big feature of the day, however, will come at 1:30 p. m., when the big German Howistzer o n the county court house corner will be officially turned over to the U. S. Army for use in "backfiring" at the enemy. Speaker at the public meeting to be held in the stake Tabernacle Taber-nacle will be J. Lawrence Wads-worth. Wads-worth. There will also be musical numbers and other program items. The parade will begin at 2:30 p.m., in which all groups or individuals in-dividuals who are doing anything in the defense program are urged to participate The " schedule and instructions for the parade follow fol-low in a letter from the parade committee, which includes Vernon Worthen and Mamie Dalton. It is hoped to make this an outstanding out-standing event of the day's celebration. cele-bration. Heading the rodeo committee is Ezra McArthur, chairman, assisted assist-ed by Ray Bentley and Hyrum Gubler. This will take place at the City Park immediately following follow-ing the parade and is to be strictly an amateur performance. Events will include wild steer roping, rop-ing, calf roping and wild cow milking, with cash awards for each event. All elementary school children will he admitted free, with a gate charge for those over elementary school age. A special feature of the dance in the Recreation hall at 9 p. m., will be the presentation of the legion Auxiliary quilt. This is an annual feature and will go to one of the couples. Coach Lee Hafen is chairman of the dance committee and will be assisted by Ralph Westover and Kenneth M. Cannon. |
