Show Tuesday, August 24th Set As Stake Welfare Tomato Canning Day Tuesday, Aug. 24th, will be St. George stake welfare tomato canning can-ning day, all day. At least that is the hope of bishoprics and welfare wel-fare officers, based on the assumption as-sumption that enough tomatoes will be contributed from the wards to make the project possible. Many growers have had good out-of-town sale thus far for their surplus tomatoes and it is believed be-lieved that now is the best time to take care of this welfare item. Prior to Tuesday, all tomato growers as far as possible throughout through-out the stake will be individually contacted to find approximately how many each can supply for the day. It is desired that the tomatoes be picked early Tuesday morning and delivered to the stake storehouse by 9 a.m. Where people have no facilities for delivering de-livering them, they will be called for if they will contact the bishops. This notice is being given at this time so that growers can plan accordingly without interfering interfer-ing with their own plans for home canning, or filling tomato orders otherwise. |
