Show LaYERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter Mrs. Maggie Barnhurst and son, Pvt. Merlin Barnhurst of Hatch were visitors here last week. Pvt. Barnhurst has had overseas duty in Germany and has since been in a hospital in the United States. DuWayne Squire took him to Cedar City on Sunday afternoon to catch the bus for a hospital in California. Mrs. Barnhurst remained re-mained here to care for the children of her sister, Mrs. Lorin D. Squire, while Mrs. Squire visits her son, Don, who is in Bushnell hospital. Fae and Verl Sanders made a trip to Salt Lake City last week with poults. Mrs. Ina Gifford is visiting here with her family. Pvt. Sheldon Gifford is at a gunners base in Florida. Slated to go to Las Vegas for three successive times, as many times he has been delayed and sent somewhere else. The last time, at Denver, he was in line to board a ship for Las Vegas, was called out of line, and by the time he was back, another man had replaced re-placed him and he was sent to F'lorida. He had hoped to be sent to Nevada so his wife and family could join him. The Gleaner Girls sponsored a barn dance on Friday. It was very successful. The town sponsored a dance on Thursday for Mack Jennings and Garn Segler. Mark left for Ft. Douglas on Monday, Garn is to leave on June 8th. Mrs. Helena Wilson entertained her Primary class at a party on Saturday. Mothers, the Primary-presidency Primary-presidency and the bishopric were invited guests. On Monday Mrs.. Sarah Sanders entertained her Primary class at a final party for the year. The "Book of Mormon" was given for attendance records to Deon Gubler and Donna Sanders. The Deacons had a party on Monday evening. . The Senior class of Sunday school held a class party on Tuesday at the home of their leader, LaEel Iverson. Mrs. Horace TuttleofSalt Lake City visited here with her brother and listers last week. They are Cyrus Gilford, Surilla Ilcpworlh and LaVina Segler. Lt. Don Gubler was able to visit for a short while last Saturday Satur-day with his family. Here also were Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gubler and children of Berkeley. Clark is to graduate during June and will receive his PhD in Bio-Chemistry. During June he is also to take his pre-induction examination exami-nation for military service. This is the first time in a number of years that the entire Gubler family have been able to be home together, and they really "got out, the band" for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Mrigham Hardy. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hardy, Mrs. Myrtle Gifford, Mrs. Ossie Stevens and Mrs. Millie Merrill attended the funeral at Mesquite on Saturday for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Hughes. There are quite a number of cases of measles in town. |
