Show Dixie Tracksters To Participate In High Meet At Hurricane The Dixie high school tracksters, coached by Stanley Watts, will participate with seven high schools and four junior high schools in an invitational track meet at Hurricane Hurri-cane Friday. Besides Dixie, the following schools are expected to attend: Kanab, Orderville, Cedar City, Moapa, Virgin and Hurricane high schools; : Woodward, Cedar City,. Virgin and Huricane junior high schools. The trial events will commence at 10 a. m., with the final contests con-tests getting underway in the afternoon. The Dixie athletes are untried, but Coach Watts expects to pick up a few points. Darrel Hafen is showing up well in the shot, discus and javelin; Austin Gentry and Marvin Woodbury in the half mile, and Clark McMullin in the 100-yard dash. Others may round into shape by the time of the divisional meet at Cedar City on April 29. The state meet will be held in Provo on May 13. Other members of the track squad are: Sprint, Herbert Bent-ley Bent-ley and Dan Hafen; 440, Preston Empey; half mile, Clive Burgess; mile, Donald Truman; high jump, Jack Crosby; javelin, Marvin Woodbury; mile, Cecil Worthen. Marvin Woodbury, Austin Gentry, Donald Truman and Preston Empey Em-pey are slated for the mile relay. |
