Show LaYERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Iverson and children of Washington were Sunday Sun-day visitors at LaVerkin, and attended at-tended Sacrament meeting. Morris H i n t o n and Linden Heaton of Hurricane were home missionaries to LaVerkin last week. They gave very interesting talks. The LaVerkin ward Relief Society So-ciety has been reorganized. Mrs. Alice Gubler was released as first counselor to Mrs. Vernon 'Church. Mrs. Gretchen Stratton, who was second counselor, was shifted to first counselor and Mrs. Jennie Stocks was selected as second counselor. Verl Dalley has been appointed as second counselor in the ward Sunday school superintendency, filling the vacancy caused when Walter Segler left for his mission to the southern states. Mrs. Joseph E. Gubler entertained enter-tained last Saturday in honor of her husband's 72nd birthday anniversary. anni-versary. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Marilyn Gubler and Cherrie Gubler entertained the young people of their respective ages at birthday anniversary parties this .week. Ovando Gubler was speaker in Sacrament meeting last Sunday. He told of his experiences in the U. S. Army and in the L. D. S. church branches, while he was in military service. He said a service serv-ice man should have a paj, a place in the Army where he likes to work, and close contact with his family and friends at home. These things, he said, help to make Army life more desirable. Mary Jean Harris, small daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. James Harris had the misfortune to hurt her back in a fall Sunday. Mrs. Amelia Slack of Toquer-ville Toquer-ville is seriously ill at the home of her son, Elwin Slack. Her daughter, Mrs. Fern . Averett of St. George is helping to care for her. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thomas of Enterprise were recent visitors at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson. Mr. Wilson left for the Navy last Friday. LaVerkin town recently began a civic improvement program. All streets are being cleaned preparatory prepar-atory too "being graded. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Stevens and family and Mr. and Mrs. Theron Stevens and family, all of Las Vegas, were Sunday Visitors at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Hardy. The Elders' quorums of La-. Verkin and Toquerville staged a dancing party at LaVerkin ward hall Monday evening. A large group attended. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hardy and family of Hawthorne, Nev., were I visitors here this week. |
