Show HURRICANE Mrs. Thomas Hinton (AUNT MEN A) Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Nielson have received word that their son, Lamar La-mar Nielson, who has been a prisoner of war since the fall of Corrigedor. has been transferred from the Philippines to Honshu, Japan. After eight weeks without any word from their son, Pvt. Price R. Workman, Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Workman received word Saturday Satur-day that he has arrived safely in the Philippines. Merlin Hinton RM3c, son of Mrs. Elzira Hinton, has been home on a four-day leave from Norfolk, Virginia. Pvt. Stanley Hinton is here on a ten-day furlough from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Mayor and Mrs. Chauncey Sand-berg Sand-berg attended an associated Civics club meeting in Price, Utah Tuesday. Tues-day. From there they plan to go on to Salt Lake City to attend a State War Fund committee meeting meet-ing being held this week. Mayor Sandberg is a member of the committee. com-mittee. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Sullivan are Lt. and Mrs. Paul Sullivan. Mrs. Sullivan is the former Marilou Miller of Pennsylvania. Pennsyl-vania. Lieutenant Sullivan is on leave from Bushnell general hospital. hos-pital. The group of Hurricane servicemen ser-vicemen home this week includes Milton Hall WT3C, Merlin Hinton Hin-ton RM3C, Lt. Paul Sullivan, Wilden Tweedie Slc, Pfc Leo Reeve, Pvt. Winston Gibson, Pvt. Stanley Hinton, Pvt. Kenyon Graff, Sgt. Calvin Balfard and Sgt. Linden Bradshaw. Mrs. Merlin Hirschi left on the Monday night bus for Camp Roberts, Rob-erts, Calif., to spend two weeks with her husband, Pvt. Hirschi, who is there in military training. The Victory Cookers 4-H club surprised the Bonnie Cookers 4-H club Friday evening with a party in the city park. Punch, cookies and marshmallows were served. The evening was spent in playing games and other amusements. Mrs. Cassie Riding of Boulder City visited last week with her daughter, Mrs. Hal Bradshaw, the former Jean Riding. Mrs. Walter Stout and son, Lloyd of Salt Lake City are here visiting relatives and friends. Mrs. Wilma Syphus returned Tuesday to her home in Spring-vine, Spring-vine, Calif., after spending a week in Hurricane visiting relatives and friendsi and fixing her house for renting. Her sister, Afton Johnson John-son returned with her and will visit for three weeks. Rodney Perkins was called to Fort Douglas last week for his physical examination before entering enter-ing cadet training at the University Univer-sity of Utah. His father, Clarence Perkins accompanied him to Salt Lake City. Fay Tceples is working as a mechanic at the defense plant in Tooele. Miss Verna Woodbury is home from Logan, where she has employment, em-ployment, to visit for two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Woodbury. Mrs. Ivor Jones and Mrs. Stanford Stan-ford Jones and families of Enoch visited Wednesday with Mrs. Doris Chamberlain. Ivan Barratt, Walter Brooks, A. Karl Larson and Owen Hurgner have gone lo Salt Lake City to jttond summer school. Mrs. Floyd Lewis, the former Loraine Healon, and baby arc here from Salt Lake City visiting relatives. Miss Lois Hirschi, daughter of Mrs. Allie Hirschi underwent surgery sur-gery on Saturday in the Iron county hospital. Combining work and pleasure was the idea which brought 30 Girl Scouts and Bee Hive girls from Boulder City and Henderson to Hurricane to pick cherries and enjoy a camping trip. Visiting in Hurricane over Sunday Sun-day were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Deblinger and two children of Pasadena, Calif. The Hurricane Lady Lions met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Emil J. Graff. Mrs. Paul Gates ,was co-hostess. Mrs. Howard How-ard Kleinman gave the book review. re-view. Mrs. Elaine Adams attended the Red Cross nutrition conference in Cedar City on Friday. She accompanied ac-companied Mrs. Eleanor Smith, county nutrition agent. Bob Sterling, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Sterling, fell from a cherry tree Monday morning and fractured both' bones in his left arm. He is reported as one of the best cherry pickers. Miss Toni Sullivan, who is working work-ing in Cedar City spent the week end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Sullivan. |
