Show Funeral Services Held Sunday, Jan. 21 For Charles F. Empey Funeral services for Charles Fielding Empey, 67 were held in the St. George stake Tabernacle Sunday. Jan. 21. at 4:30 p.m. with Counselor Maiben Ashby of the West ward bishopric conducting. conduct-ing. Mr. Empey died Sunday morning, Jan. 15, after a lingering illness. Organ music by Mrs. Mae Pace preceeded the services. Other music numbers were "Oh, My Father" and "Stiall We Meet Beyond Be-yond The River" by the West ward ladies' chorus with Mrs. Mary Pearce conducting and Mrs. Lothair Mangum accompanying; vocal solo, "The Link Divine" by Ray D. Garner accompanied by Miss Joan Garner, and violin solo, "Sometime, Somewhere" by Earl J. Bleak -with Mrs. Bleak accompanying. ac-companying. Albert E. Miller, lifelong neighbor neigh-bor of Mr. Empey was the first speaker. He told of the pioneer parents of both Mr. and Mrs. Empey, Mr. and Mrs. William Empey and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Terry, and their many contributions contribu-tions to the building up of Utah and especially of Utah's Dixie. He commended Mr. and Mrs. Empey for their three splendid daughters, told of Mr. Empey's work as a farmer, teamster, freighter, hackdriver and gardener, garden-er, and of his excellent horses which he drove. He also helped Warren Cox with the first permanent perm-anent street improvements in northwest St. George and was a good citizen and a good neighbor. Vernon Worthen of the stake presidency praised Mr. Empey for his goodness to his family, saying he was generous to a fault to everyone, was genuine in his friendship, considerate of others and uncomplaining. Closing remarks re-marks were by Mr. Ashby. Prayers were by John T. Woodbury Wood-bury Jr. and George F. Whitehead. White-head. Buriel was in the St. St. George City cemetery, the grave being dedicated by Pres. Harold S. Snow, |
