Show Mrs. Walter F. Smith Returns From Eastern States' Trip Mrs. Walter F. Smith returned Sunday from a month's vacation in the national capitol and touring tour-ing the old Pioneer Trails landmarks, land-marks, prior to her transfer to Provo, where she expects to make her home after Nov. 1. I Leaving St. George Sept. 20, with Dr. and Mrs. Clarence Cot-tam Cot-tam who were returning to their home in Washington, D. C, after attending the marriage of their daughter, Glenna in the Salt Lake Temple. Mrs. Smith says they had a most delightful motor trip, in cluding on their route the main points of pioneer history, visiting the Kirtland Temple and other historic buildings in that vicinity, stopping off for a close-up of Gettysburg, and other points of interest. They found Washington, D. C, a very busy place with literally hundreds of young people from all parts of the U. S. swarming into the capitol on Defense program employment. Many homes of people formerly from other states have been opened to boarders in an effort to take care of this great influx of people, it is claimed, claim-ed, and in this way young people are finding desirable homes with people from their state who are interested. While in Washington, Mrs. Smith witnessed the mammoth fake air raid, of which we heard on radio programs; visited all the places of interest, except the White House, toured the Shenandoah Shenan-doah Valley and other historically famous places. She was guest while there of her sister, Mrs. Leslie Bell, and in Chicago visited another sister, Mrs. Z. D. Roundy. |
