Show HURRICANE Mrs. Thomas Ilinton (AUNT MINA) Reporter Cpl. Jack Lemmon sent his parents par-ents pictures of the V-J Day celebration cele-bration on Okinawa. He wrote his mother that they had a grand display dis-play of fireworks, and he is now helping rebuild the island. Ph.M. Merle Lemmon is completing com-pleting his military medical training train-ing aboard a big transport plane "which transports wounded soldiers home from the Pacific. He hopes his first stop will be Okinawa, where he can visit his brother Cpl. Jack, who is stationed there. Mrs. Retta Stratton is awaiting the arrival of her ' son, Newell Hartley, Flc, from the Pacific. He wired her last Friday from Portland saying he will be home soon. He took part in Guadalcanal and other island campaigns. Mr. and Mrs. Victor King received re-ceived a letter last week from their son, Pfc. Ray King, at Far-ragut, Far-ragut, Idaho, saying his right arm is doing nicely following surgery. This fs the first letter he has written writ-ten with his right hand since he was wounded. Pfc. Golden Taylor, who is in Munich, has written Mrs. Taylor that he'll be home' for Christmas. Cpl. Delbert Covington has written writ-ten from Belgium telling his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Covington, Coving-ton, not to send any Christmas gifts as he will be home. Sgt. Leon Hall is on his way home from New York for a 30-day 30-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hall, after extended ex-tended overseas service. Pfc. W. Evans Woodbury is home on a 30-day work leave from Harlingen Field, Tex., after two years in military service. He has gone on to Holden to assist hisi wife's father with harvesting. Writing from France Sgt. Run-yon Run-yon D. Woodbury reports, a very interesting trip to Glasgow and London. His one letter was written writ-ten on House of Commons stationery. sta-tionery. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thurston drove to Logan last week to take their daughter, Marilyn, to attend the U S A C. They also visited Mr. Thurston's mother in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Humphries have returned to Hurricane to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Wilson reported re-ported their recent L D S missionary mis-sionary experiences in Northern California, in the North Ward services on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lake and j three children of Salt Lake City, visited last week with her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Chloe Beatty. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Hinton and son spent part of last week in Salt Lake City on business. Mrs Lester Barnum accompanied them to the capital. Four boys and girls received their diplomas in the South Ward Primary graduation services held last Sunday. The girls were Irva Cox, Ruthell Roundy, Linda Russell, Rus-sell, LuRae Black and Ruth Pulsipher, Pul-sipher, and the boys were Clayton Beatty, Donald Nuttall, Kent Isom and Scott Stanworth. Miss Leila Barber is attending Dixie Junior College on the scol-arship scol-arship she received. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robb and three children of Cedar City visited vis-ited last week with her mother, Mrs. Chloe Beatty. Mrs. Job Riding and Mrs. Lizzie Isom visited in Hurricane last Monday on their way from Boulder Boul-der City to Panguitch. Mr. Riding remained in Hurricane with his daughter, Mrs. Hal Bradshaw. Lynn Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Sanders, has returned from the Iron County Hospital where she recently underwent an appendectomy. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Ivins and Miss Lou Jeanne Barlow, all of Overton, were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thurston. Mrs. Ada Imlay is visiting at Boulder City with her son Fcnton and daughter Ruth, and families. Albert, Frank, Robert, Will and Powell Stratton spent last week in Hinckley, visiting their oilier brother, Charles. This is the first time the six have been together for several years. Mrs. Iddo Wilson, the former LaWren Wright, is here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wright. Her husband, T5 Wright, belongs to the 4th Armored Div. in Germany and was recently awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. He expects to return before be-fore Christmas. Mrs. Arnold Lemmon is home from spending the summer at Cedar Ce-dar City, Parowan, Beaver and Fillmore, where her husband has been employed at road work. He is now at Delta. Mr. and Mrs. George Shamo and family spent last week in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Elaine Adams Sunday attended at-tended funeral services in Paro- j wan for her husband's grandfather ' David Matheson. Enos Sandberg of Salt Lake City was a Sunday visitor at the home of his brother, Mayor Chaun-cey Chaun-cey Sandberg. I Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Woodbury of Lynndyl are visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Woodbury. Miss Lena Hall, who has spent the summer in Ogden with relatives, rela-tives, has returned home to attend at-tend Hurricane High School. Mrs. Maggie Englestead Foster is here from Georgia visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Englestead. En-glestead. Lt. Foster is an air 'corps instructor. Arvel Webb and Thomas Eagar have gone to Salt Lake City on business. Mrs. Issa Teeplcs has employment employ-ment in Salt Lake City. Her son, Fay Teeplcs, is working at a lumber lum-ber yard in McCal, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Bodden have returned from a business trip to Salt Lake City. |
