M. w -K Alice Bringhurst left Wednesday Wednes-day morning to visit for two weeks with her sister, Mrs. Dwayne Overly in Provo. Horace Thompson was home from Provo over Sunday returning return-ing the same evening and on to Salt Lake City Monday, where he will receive his military assignment assign-ment as a member of Provo's July quota. Brown in St. George. ac ..(. .M. www Mrs. J. J. Phoenix was hostess last Thursday evening to the members mem-bers of her Bridge club, high score honors being shared by Mrs. LaVon McQuaid and Mrs. B. G. Milne. ' Rulon A. Orton returned the fore part of last week to his employment em-ployment in Los Angeles after visiting for several days with Mrs. Orton who is remaining in St. George for the present, and with his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Orton. Mrs. Leah Dyer, Mrs. Ruth Yates, and Mrs. Theresa Humphrey, Humph-rey, all of Salt Lake City were visiting last Wednesday over Friday Fri-day with Mrs. Mary R. Bowler on their return from Las Vegas and Logandale, where they visited C. C. Bowler and other relatives. Motor sergeant Wendell Crosby left Sunday evening for Camp Wallace, Texas, where he is stationed sta-tioned with a division of the U. S. Army. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Milne have received word of the birth of a son on July 3 to Mr. and Mrs. K. John Roundy of Cortez, Colo. Mrs. Roundy is the former Miss Ruth Milne. .(. Jt- -U-1? W -W Mrs. Margaret Simpson visited in St. George several days during dur-ing the past week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar R. Simpson. She was enroute to Colorado, where she will spend several weeks visiting her daughter. Norman Johnson and two small children are spending the week in Pine Valley. Mrs. Wesley A. Nelson accompanied accom-panied by her father, E. B. Snow, left Saturday for Salt Lake City where Mr. Snow will receive medical medi-cal treatment. They will also visit with Mrs. Nelson's sister, Mrs. Alva Carpenter in Logan before be-fore returning home. Mr. and Mrs. James Andrus and family left Saturday for a week's visit with relatives in Southern California. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Porter returned re-turned home Friday from Salt Lake City where they had spent the fore part of the week on business. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Owens and family were Salt Lake and Provo visitors last week. Mrs. Wayne Whitehead, a special spe-cial guest, won high score prize at the Bridge Ettes club held on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Karl Hutchings. Mrs. Elmer Harmon won second place. George Pace and Andrew Pace arrived with the noon bus today, (Thursday) from Los Angeles. Andrew is returning from completing com-pleting his school activities and brings with him additional supplies sup-plies for their curio shop. Postmaster and Mrs. William Brooks left late Wednesday evening eve-ning for Salt Lake City to attend the State Postmasters' conference. While absent Mrs. Brooks will be guest speaker before the Women's Wom-en's Literary club of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Corry and two children of Washington, D. C, were guests Friday and Saturday of Mrs. Corry's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Macfarlane, who, with their daughter June, accompanied accom-panied the Correys to Las Vegas to visit over the week-end. From there the capitol visitors went on to Los Angeles to spend a few days with Mr. Correy's people before be-fore returning over the southern route to Washincton. D. C. Dorothy Blake, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Blake entered en-tered the local hospital for surgery surg-ery July 11. and Miss Leah Bent-ley, Bent-ley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Bentley underwent surgery July 15. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Young and family of San Francisco visited! in St. George Wednesday evening. Mr. Young was an employee of the News during 1911-1912. Paul Crosby and Earl Hafen arrived ar-rived Monday from Camp San Luis Obispo for a brief vacation with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. McKay Larson were called to Kanosh Tuesday evening eve-ning due to the illness of Mrs. Larson's mother, Mrs. Ethella Avery. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Blanken-agel Blanken-agel and children returned last Thursday from their vacation to Flagstaff, Phoenix and other parts of Arizona. The Three-W club members were guests Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Pratt Prince, with honors being shared by Mrs. Owen Pendleton, Helen Pearce and Annette Pearce. Dinner at Ad's Cafe, Santa Clara was followed by Bridge at the Milne home, with Mrs. Morton Mor-ton Morris scoring high for the ladies and E. W. Simmons for the men. Misses Clara and Dorotha Sor-enson Sor-enson had as their guests Wednesday, Wed-nesday, their parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Sorenson, their brother. Hugh, of Orderville and Miss Selma Lee of California, who is visiting at the Sorenson ranch. Discharges from the hospital 1 over the past week include Mrs. Ken Judd and baby boy, Mrs. David Rogers and baby boy. Mrs. Athole Milne left Tues- day for Murray where she will i visit several days with Mrs. Ann C. J. Milne at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hamblin, and in Salt Lake City with Mr. and Mrs. William Webb before going on to Victor, Idaho, with Mr. and Mrs. Tony Andrus to visit Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Hamblin and family. Mrs. Hamblin is a daughter of Mrs. Milne. |
