Show News of the County Seat Mr. and Mrs. William Lund and Miss Cornelia Lund of Enterprise Enter-prise spent Wednesday here visiting visit-ing and 'transacting business. i Mrs. Henrietta Frehner and two granddaughters returned ''Sunday from Logandale, Nevada where they attended the Frehner ' family reunion which w-as held there Saturday and was attended by 60 members. Mrs. Annetta Pearce entertained enter-tained theK. Y. B. Club at her home last Wednssday afternoon. Rook was enjoyed, the high score ; prize was awarded to Mrs. Mor- oni Bleak and second prize by i Mrs. Owen Cox. A shower honoring Mrs. Ivan Wittwer was held at the home of Mrs. Don Carter on Saturday j evening. j Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Grey and i family of Los Angeles were visit-I visit-I ing here the latter part of last week with his mother, Mrs.' Helen j F. Grey while enroute to Nebraska Nebras-ka where they will make their home. Mrs. Joseph W. McAllister and Mrs. Mattie Empey entertained the Athena Club at the McAllister home last Thursday evening. John Sullivan is seriously ill with infirmities due to old age. R. A. Morris is very seriously ill at his home here. His son El-son El-son arrived here Tuesday night to be with him. Mr. and Mrs. George Miller and family of Beaver were visiting visit-ing the latter part of last week at the home of his parents here. Mrs. Geneva Jones has returned from a visit with her daughter Mrs. Virginia Sorenson at Provo. Mansel Scow of Hurricane returned re-turned to his home Sunday after spending ten days at the local hospital following an operation. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain, Chamber-lain, Misses Karma Cottam, and Annie McArthur and Leon Jennings Jenn-ings and Odell Scroll spent Sunday Sun-day visiting at Boulder Ctiy and Boulder Dam. Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain returned to their home at Cedar City and Mr. Scroll returned to his home at Yuma, Arizona on Monday. Yard Heaton of Alton is visiting visit-ing his mother, Mrs. William Heaton here this week. Mr. and Mrs. James Hutchings returned to their home at Beaver on Tuesday after a two weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Hutchings. Eugene Leavitt left the local hospital last Wednesday afternoon after-noon recovering from a very serious operation. Roy Kurt of Central who was thrown from a horse two weeks ago receiving severe skull fractures, frac-tures, is getting along nicely at the local hospital. Charles Petty, manager of the Petty Motor Company at Cedar City and his daughter Miss Rachel were transacting business and visiting with relatives in St. George on Monday. Miss Annie McArthur intends leaving the later part of this week for Washington D. C, to spend a number of months with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cottam and family. Mrs. Cottam has been bedfast since the birth of a baby December 16. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Cherry were visitors last week-end at the home of his brother, Judge J. W'. Cherry. Mr. Cherry, who is editor and publisher of the Gunnison Valley News and the Salina Sun, made his first visit to the Boulder Dam last Friday. Ho also dropped into the News office to chat with Editor Simpson. Simp-son. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Milne returned Sunday from Salt Lake City where they attended the high school basketball tournament. tourna-ment. This is the culmination of five week's vacation, a month of which was spent in Southern California for Mr. Milne's health. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Gre-en-hagen accompanied by Miss Mona Woodbury left Saturday for a short visit at their home in Salt Lake City. They returned Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. Ben Armstrong and Murdell Earl were week-end visitors here from Las Vegas. Nevada. Professor M. Wilford Poulson and son Robert and Misses Roxie Romney and Alton Judd and Iceland Ice-land and Walter Brooks spent the week-end visiting here from Provo. Miss Nellie Cox who recently re-cently returned from California where she has been attending school accompanied them back to the B. Y. U. Mrs. Glenn Prisbrey entertained enter-tained the Bridge club at her home last Thursday evening . The first prize was awarded to Mrs. Roy Lyle and second prize was awarded to Mrs. Earl Cannon. Guests were Mrs. Grant Harris, Mrs. Marion Snow, Mrs. Roy Lyle, Mrs. Lee Esplin, Mrs. Robert McComb, Mrs. L. A. Porter, Mrs. Henry Crosby, Mrs. Lavon Mc-Quaid, Mc-Quaid, Mrs. Earl Cannon, Mrs. Rudger Ahkin and Mrs. Howard Judd. Mrs. Delia Pearce was pleasantly pleas-antly surprised by a group of friends Saturday evening. The oc-assion oc-assion was her birthday and she received many lovely gifts. The evening was spent playing rook, high score prize being won by Miss Julia Foster, and second prize by Mrs. Isaac Jones after which delicious refreshments were served to Mrs. Bert Coates, Mrs. Joseph Lund, Mrs. Harry Pearce. Mrs. Luther Hemenway, Mrs. Grace Atkin, Mrs. R. A. Bentley, Mrs. Levi Atkin, Mrs." J. C. Keate, Mrs. Mae Sriow, Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Worthen, Mrs. Moroni Bleak. Mrs. Hale Pearce, Mrs. Annetta Pearce, and Mrs. Jones and Miss Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Snow left Wednesday evening for 'Salt Lake City where they spend several days on business. |
