Show Roy West Gives Sunday j Night BAnk Review ! Roy A. West gave last Sunday) night's book review before the associated as-sociated literary clubs of St George at the library building. He chose tiio book, "Pastoral I'syeiatry" ly the Reverend John Sutherland Bunnell, which has as its theme the service a sincere; religionist can give- in helping to overcome human ills. The son of a devout churchman, church-man, Reverand Bonnell was permit per-mit ted even as a child to visit; the hospital of mentally ill people with his father, and learned in this way how sincerity, faith and calm friendliness were as healing medicine to many of the afflicted ones. Recognizing that many of, the physical ills of the human family have their origin in the mind, and frequently their ex-. ulanation in the events of the' individual's life, his unrealized hopes, his momentary hazzards, his unfulfilled desires, and countless count-less other rather ordinary daily happenings that linger in the mental setup. The book offers much sound reasoning in the psyoiatrist's field. This compari-tively compari-tively recent method of treatment treat-ment known as psyciatry in the, medical world, is not in reality new. as it was to a degree the method used by Christ in his healings. It is doubly helpful when the attendant, whether he is a physician or a reverend by title, seeks to understand the back-! back-! rround of the trouble, and finding lit. is oftimes able to helo the Mok to their own source of cure. I This seems to be the message of Reverend Bonnell's book, reviewed by Mr. West. v Mrs. W. J. Reichmann was in charge of the session and announced an-nounced the next offering would be the reading of a play by Mrs. Orval Hafen. |
