Show Two Hew Sub-areas Selected On Upper Yirgin LOGAN, Utah Two new sub-areas sub-areas in the Upper Virgin River watershed of southwestern Utah have been selected by the U. S. Department of Agriculture for work in connection with its pro gram to assist farmers and ranchers in western states with the development of small water facilities, it was announced Friday. Fri-day. The new sub-areas are both located in Washington county near Pintura and Leeds. Selection Selec-tion of a third Washington county sub-area near Santa Clara already has been announced by the department. de-partment. Work at the two new-areas new-areas will be to make more water available for irrigation. - Under authority of the Pope-Jones Pope-Jones Water Facilities Act, farmers far-mers and ranchers in these areas will receive federal assistance in installing facilities to build up supplies of water for range and crop land improvement and livestock live-stock use. Types of work contemplated include in-clude the construction, installation and development of ponds, reservoirs, reser-voirs, wells, dams, springs, pumping pump-ing works, windmills, water spreaders, stock water tanks, flood irrigation, and small irrigation irriga-tion systems for single farms or small groups of farms. |
