Show Retirement Announced By Mrs. Hortense Odium A recent issue of the Salt Lake Tribue carries information that Hortense McQuarrie Odium has resigned her position as president of Bonwit-Teller, fashionable women's apparel shop of New York City, where she has been a stellar figure since 1934. Formerly of St. George, Mrs. ; Odium, who was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hector McQuarrie, ' and grew up in this city, has become be-come widely known for her ascendency as-cendency into prominence in the business field of women, not by special training, but because of her heritage of cordiality, and natural business intuition. Saving Sav-ing Bonwit-Teller in 1934, when the Bix Six corporation, of which her husband was president, reorganized re-organized the firm on a human, friendly basis, Mrs. Odium has given her experience to the world in magazine articles and in her recent book, "A Woman's Place". She has devoted herself to the business since 1934 and feels she is now ready to retire. The Od- lums separated in 1937. A monument to her pioneer grandparents, Hector and Gray McQuarrie and Robert and Mary Ann Carr Gardner was erected in this city and dedicated in June, 1938, Mrs. Odium giving $17,500 for this edifice in which to store local pioneer relics and treasures.
